yeah, but then they throw money in the air to get everyone to go crazy so the cops can't catch them, they do crazy stuff to avoid the cops, and the cops don't really know which route they are gonna take either.

that's cannonball material, not gumball. :)

brock yates of car and driver actually ran an ambulance in one of the original cannonballs. good stuff.
Damn...guess I better call Jamie Farr up and tell him to forget the Sheik costume. Oh well....live and learn. I just hope Dean Martin isn't too upset and doesn't try to shove bleeds, yes these bleeds, up my nose.

i doubt stopping a bunch of rich white men is on top of the things to do list for police officers. And if it is... no wonder our country has so much crime

Most cops run alongside and take pictures of the cars...then there are those who are out run...

Sadly, Dean Martin is no longer with us, but I think Roger Moore is still around..

Wow, never heard of this before. Looks quite fun though. I'd imagine it would be pretty sweet to roll through some cities through the southwest and run from the cops on the desert highways. You would go into town, make a right turn without a blinker in front of a cop, and have him light you up. Then, slowly lead him to the highway and take off at over 200 mph. I would do it if I had the cash. I'm sure the adrenaline rush would be great. Sigh, the life of a poor college student.

I am afraid; for the participants. So highly publicized has this race become, that "getting away with it" is almost an impossibility.

For example, the SAPD know they will be coming thru on "this date" at approximately "this time." They will just shut the highway down. Yes, I35, the highway that runs from MEXICO (NAFTA, thanks, Clinton, you d1ckwad) to OKLAHOMA, they will barricade with concrete. Guaranteed. :(

What's cool is seeing the $250K Ferrarri just dust the Crown Vics. i love that. While the brunette flashes her boobs at the cops...that's all SO classic.

*sigh* Too bad it's over now. It's to highly touted to "get away with" anymore.

I HOPE they do, but they won't. <--Mr. Practical speaks. Damn, Mr. Practical sucks!!!

These are some of the cars before the stickers were put on

My uncle was in it last year from DC(or was it NY?) to Beverly Hills. He told me his spot cost $12k:Q and he entered his 1998 Porsche 911 Turbo. He got $9,000 worth of tickets and is banned from driving in some states for a few years. I have the pics of his car somewhere on cd and i'll upload them as soon as I find it. Last year's Gumball pics

I heard that a few cars got impounded yesterday before they even left SF. Some guy from bmwM5 got arrested in his 2002 911 Turbo.

Check out this $650,000 supercar:cool: . Only 12 made. The McLaren isn't starting till the Las Vegas leg of the race. No Enzo's showed up because the owners said that they were not delivered in time for the race.:Q

Yeah i hear like 4 bmw's and a couple porshes got pulled over, drivers arrrested, cars impounded. Kinda funny since SF's mayor Willy Brown was there at the launch and kinda endorsed it...

What is that??

Basicly a buncha millionaires get togather and get all the exotic cars they can and race accross a country, this year its the US, few years back it was Europe...And yes it is real.

I hope they get a lot more media coverage this year cuz ferrari's outrunning cops is hilarious...

I also hope someone brings a ferari Enzo into this one :)

So they don't orderly? It's an actual race? Link???

No, not a real race, they all stop at the same place each night, no winner, they say don't speed, but one guy got a ticket for doing 187 in a 65, went to jail to iirc, but bailed himself out heh.

Its a hella cool event! Seen some videos and its crazy seeing these cars get away from cops and such.

Just hope that no one gets injured. In one video I saw a car getting pushed out of a ditch, ouch.

In another I see a wheel coming off a car!
