well, I just hope I get it soon--probably need the invite now, though. My normal DL speed is ~480kb 🙁

It's just going to be hammered because of the demand on this one.
 
You can avoid the hammered login servers by going direct:
cloudfront.guildwars2.com/client/Gw2.exe

Place it ina dir you wish to use. For example C : \ GuildWars2 and run the file from that dir. The downloader will then start.
 
Yeah, I got my invite at 2:45pm PST. I started downloading the client earlier today, though, as I already had the old closed beta client.

My weekend is officially fucked.
 
Assuming I'm able to get in on time, I will be officially sick on Friday. 😛

and thanks for the tips--I'll try that when I get home. --I need to reboot on my SSD though, clear the hibernate function...and install there.

Only problem--I'd much rather be playing ToR or something instead of just letting this thing download for 2 days. :\
 
So big celebration for GW1 as well and a new tameable pet, hounds of balthazar and all consumable drops from every event plus every weekend events bonus - good chance for those that still need a few points for HOM rewards.

Still downloading, my GF got it ages ago using the previous beta downloader, stupid 50MB internet she has... want as well.

Ack, I just realized I hadn't registered my beta code from the pre-purchase, hope I'm not too late to get into this weekend's beta. I'll have TERA early access at least if I don't! 🙂
 
All pre-purchasers get beta, they are sending emails in waves.....downloading the client at a blazing 27KB/sec
 
I'm clicking on the link in the e-mail (or the link on the support page, which actually goes to the same forum post). I get a login screen, I enter my login information, hit submit, and it sends me to the exact same site. I'm guessing that this is the login server issue that people were referring to?

I already downloaded the file from the above link (Thanks!) and I'm downloading the client as we speak, but I want to make sure there's no issue with my account. I thought maybe I had the password wrong, so I reset it, changed it (or didn't, if it's the password I think I used initially), and I'm getting the same issue.

You guys have a notion of which world you'd want to be on?

I'm thinking Vasburg, Eternal Grove, Maguuma, or Sorrow's Furnace.

I imagine Darkhaven will be jam-packed.

--Beef Jerky? check
--Beer and water? pick up on Thursday
--Diapers? check.
 
I get to work from 11pm-7am Thursday night, Friday night, and Saturday night. I also have to work Thursday 8-5 and Friday 8-5. So basically...

I'll go with group consensus, but would like to play through with a group of ATers 🙂 Client already downloaded, got some catching up to do with mechanics. Likely going to roll an elementalist, thief, or mesmer, depending on what people need.
 
I'm pretty torn on what class to play, all of them sound pretty cool to me except for the engineer. I think my front-runners would be either necro, guardian or mesmer though.

Mesmer will be my main, and then Thief. I might gravitate towards thief more, but who knows.

After that it's either Nec or Ele. Then Guardian/War/Engineer.

Still little to no interest in Rangers.


I wouldn't worry about what people need, as all classes seem to be useful in somewhat equal roles based on the game mechanics. For starting out new guilds, I imagine the only thing role issue to be concerned with is the first crafting skills you select?

You will eventually be able to max all crafting on any toon, if you wish, though.
