Hello cjsh,

Before you do anything
1. Make sure that you have extracted HiJackthis to a folder that is isolated before removing anything, for hijackthis makes backups within the folder it is in.
2. Reboot into safe mode
3. Close all browsers/windows explorer

fix the following in hijackthis(kill the process in process viewer, if its there)

additional steps

  • 1. Remove the following VIA instructions provided: W32.Beagle.M@mm or W32.Beagle.N@mm (one or the other is what is causing that "winupd.exe" file to be there, unknown which is present)
    2. Delete the following file: "C:\WINDOWS\System32\winupd.exe"
    3. Restart into normal windows

thank you, thank you.

finally I got rid of prono sites from my son's pc. He said he played online games and didn't even know there were prono sites listed in his Favorites. I had parent control enabled and he won't be able to see actual site anyway, but pissed me off with these bad people who invaded innocent youngsters.. Now I have to check his pc daily..

again I really appreciate your help

Hello elny3680,

Before you do anything
1. Download and use the latest version (1.98.2) of hijackthis.
2. Rerun and post the log from the updated version

Notes

  • 1. It is recomended that you do not run more than one antivirus, having two antivirus apps can cause conflicts. for info on which one you should keep, see my Guide to the best Antivirus.

Hello jt63,

Before you do anything
1. Make sure that you have extracted HiJackthis to a folder that is isolated before removing anything, for hijackthis makes backups within the folder it is in.
2. Reboot into safe mode
3. Close all browsers/windows explorer

fix the following in hijackthis(kill the process in process viewer, if its there)

Notes

  • 1. Lots of trojans there, make sure her antivirus is uptodate and that her temporary files are really gone, much hiding in there. You might want to consider setting her up with a limited user account.

Schadenfroh,

Thanks a lot. She let her AV subscription lapse, (will smack her hand with ruler), I scanned it with House Call and cleaned it. After I get rid of this crap, I'm installing NAV and locking this puppy down.

Thanks again, it's really appreciated

Hello Anubis,

Before you do anything
1. Make sure that you have extracted HiJackthis to a folder that is isolated before removing anything, for hijackthis makes backups within the folder it is in.
2. Reboot into safe mode
3. Close all browsers/windows explorer

fix the following in hijackthis(kill the process in process viewer, if its there)

  • R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
    O2 - BHO: LocalNRDObj Class - {00320615-B6C2-40A6-8F99-F1C52D674FAD} - C:\WINDOWS\localNRD.dll

additional steps

  • 1. Clear your Temporary Files
    2. Remove the following VIA instructions provided:
    3. .Restart into normal windows

Hey, Schadenfroh, wanted to say thanks for running this thread for everybody here at AT and wanted to ask if you'd take a quick look at my HijackThis log. No symptoms of anything that I know of, but I'm a paranoid freak and just want to make sure that there's nothing going on that I don't want to be going on :) Thanks.

hello SuperCommando,

this board taught me a good portion of my computer knowledge, im glad im able to give back in some way:)

as for your log, it is clean, but if your paranoid, you might want to consider switching over to antivir. It is free and requires no registration, unlike avg, you install and go. if you do decide to switch, be sure to uninstall the old one.

according to the tests at spywareinfo, it has about a 15% higher detection rate against avg when tested against about 700 viruses and trojans.

I am being deluged by spyware, hoping someone can help me. I have used HJT, Spybot, AdAware, Bazooka, WinPatrol, BHO Demo, started in safe mode and deleted files but I'm missing something. Tried three different AV programs and didn't find anything that helped this. I'm getting hijacked by zestyfind, websearch, shortcuts keep appearing on my desktop. IE can be closed and it opens on its own with ads for a free Dell computer among other things. Popups advertising bogus spyware removers keep coming up. Addestroyer and Virtual Bouncer keep installing themselves.

I eliminate this stuff and it just comes back almost right away. It's like there is one central rogue app on here that just has a list of all this junk and keeps propagating it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've been trying to solve this on my own and have followed the advice at several sites but the problem is, the stuff just keeps coming back. Here's my logfile:

Hello Wolfchild,

Before you do anything
1. Make sure that you have extracted HiJackthis to a folder that is isolated before removing anything, for hijackthis makes backups within the folder it is in.
2. Make sure you have lsp fix/winsock fix downloaded, just in case, do not run unless removal kills net connection.
3. Reboot into safe mode
4. Close all browsers/windows explorer

fix the following in hijackthis(kill the process in process viewer, if its there)

  • O2 - BHO: (no name) - {87766247-311C-43B4-8499-3D5FEC94A183} - C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\WinTools\WToolsB.dll

Thanks - I am trying this in a minute here. Only one thing I thought I'd ask - Winability Folder Guard (FGKEY.EXE) is something I've used for three or four years and want to keep - unless this is some malicious renaming of that legit program? But I need to keep that.
