My friend has an awesome ringtone, where an anxious hispanic women starts yelling "John! pick up your phone john. I need to talk to you. I really need you to pick up your phone. John. John! etc."

anyways, my friend used to have the retro super mario bros ring tone. everyone laughs everytime it goes off.

I completely agree that we should TRY to put it on silence, but for heavens sake we're all human and we have so much running through our head when we're about to go into an interview that it is easy to forget, and shouldn't be regarding as "unprofessional". It should be a simple accident, like sneezing while you're in the middle of an answer or something.

Its considered extremely poor taste for a phone to ring in a meeting/interview.

Most times it will be met with evil stares. saying "WTF is wrong with you! You couldn't show enough respect/professionalism to turn it on vibrate?" without actually saying it.
