Question for all the music ringtone people. How often do you change it ? Don't you people get sick of it after like 10 rings ?

I use the Super Mario Brother's theme, which gets a smile out of almost everyone.

I've gotten used to mine. when a generic cellphone ring goes off I know it's not mine.

professional environment (especially during a critical time, especially for your career) != non-professional environment.Originally posted by: SouthPaW1227
I don't understand the big "TABOO" about phones going off in an interview. I mean, say your family member from another state comes to visit and you're having a serious conversation in your living room, and your house phone goes off. Do they look at you all taboo and go "OMG YOU SHOULD'VE TURNED YOUR PHONE OFF!!!111one!!1!"
No. It's a phone. It's supposed to ring. The point is to ignore it if it happens to go off. I know that turning cell phones off is an easy task, but honestly tinkering with your phone is about the LAST thing on your mind when you're about to interview for a job position.
Did you consider the type of ringtone he used ? If I were an old fogey top executive or anyone making serious business decisions... I don't know about hiring someone who would use that as a ringtone if I had a choice of better or even equally qualified candidates. It speaks about his personality - something that is also being questioned while interviewing. Don't give them anymore ammo than you would like. Don't divulge any information that's not pertinent. That's why again - best bahavior... no mistakes.Originally posted by: SouthPaW1227
It shouldn't be awkward. I'll admit, through societal conditioning I would initially think down upon the interviewee, but I'd try to regain my thoughts and understand how bad HE must feel, and that the person on the other end of the phone has absolutely NOTHING to do with his ability to perform in my company.
