Found this via Drudge, could be a bad sign. Might also force governments on both sides to do something about the boarder problem.

Although knowing our government it might take a few guards in body bags before the wake up and do something.
A U.S. Border Patrol entry Identification Team site was overrun Wednesday night along Arizona's border with Mexico.

According to the Border Patrol, an unknown number of gunmen attacked the site in the state's West Desert Region around 11 p.m. The site is manned by National Guardsmen. Those guardsmen were forced to retreat

The Border Patrol will not say whether shots were fired. However, no Guardsmen were injured in the incident.

The Border Patrol says the incident occurred somewhere along the 120 mile section of the border between Nogales and Lukeville. The area is known as a drug corridor. Last year, 124-thousand pounds of illegal drugs were confiscated in this area.

The Border patrol says the attackers quickly retreated back into Mexico.

Don't worry, No need for shots. Democrats and Republicans rejoice. These people are getting amnesty in the upcoming weeks!

It's a good thing the guardsmen didn't shoot at the illegals who were attacking them... otherwise the illegals could probably press charges.

why didn't the guardsmen fire back? retreating inside your own borders is retarded.

I suspect that they were under orders to not fire their weapons unless authorized by some REMF.

This is what the .50cal machine gun was invented for. If the Guardsmen fired off a couple rounds and cut a couple Mexicans in half I'm willing to bet they wouldn't try that again.

An organized attack? As in intentionally engaging Border Patrol?

This doesn't sound like 'illegals'. It could be drugs or not, but something else was going on there.

That is just wonderful. But lets not militarize the border. These people shouldnt have national guardsmen in the way of their operations.

The U.S. government needs to declare armed illegal immigrants agents of Mexico and claim it an act of war if one crosses the border. These illegals' actions are sanctioned by the Mexican government both by oral declaration and by their own constitution. Line up 100 tanks along the border and inform Mexico of our intentions if the illegal situation continues. Let's see Mexican officials change their tune when they are under threat of the American Might. As far as I am concerned, these illegals pose a far greater threat against America than the "terrorists" ever could. They are undermining our economy--which affects many more people than were brutally murdered during the September 11th attacks.

That would make it yet another, in the seemingly limitless number of battles lost, in the "War on Drugs".

Look at what happened to the two border patrols who shot a guy, who was carrying hundreds of pounds of drugs, on the side of his butt while chasing him...... The government made an example of both of them. They are now going to Jail for over 10 years. The drug runner.... Well, he will not be prosecuted and we, the tax payers will be paying for his medical bills.

That story never received the coverage that it should have. Some f'n filthy liberal judge decided to side with the drug-runner! I have several friends working as BP officers throughout TX, NM, and AZ, and they all told me that the judgment against those troopers sent shockwaves through the rest of the force. Many Agents left the BP since that horrible decision, and many more are considering other options as we speak...

It's actually pretty sad and just a bit scary that the foreign drug-runners have more rights than our BP officers and National Guard soldiers.

Well I'm a leftist, and even I think if they should at least be able to return fire. I wouldn't want to be on the business end of some drug lord's thug's gun, with orders to sit on my hands. If they were allowed to shoot, they'd probably have to radio back to a CO to get ammo.

The guardsmen on the border do not carry ammo. I was in the field at Ft. Huachuca one night when we were ordered to stay in our hooches for the night. It seems that 100+ border-jumpers were on the ridge above us and they had real bullets while we only carried blanks for our exercises. The fear was that they'd open fire on us when they saw our rifles, but we'd get slaughtered because we didnt have any real ammo. The same is true for most of the Guard troops on the border. They might have rifles, but they are not armed with ammo.

It's ridiculous.

All 6,000 (or however many we have) guardsman on the border could be shot and killed and our government will still believe the top priority to resolve this is to dissolve our borders.
