Looks like more of the first (which is fine with me).

I ignored all the hoopla around the first movie as I'm not interested in comic books but for whatever reason I decided to give the movie a watch sometime after it left theaters and I ended up really liking it. Drax was hilarious, lol.

So I'm definitely gonna see this one in theaters!

I am very excited about it, wife even more so. Love the music, what I grew up with. Hopefully they don't do too much and keep with what made it work. 1st is one of my favorite movies in a long time. Just for pure entertainment value. Many more with a better "message" but as far as just enjoying a movie, really good.

Bald headed blue cyborg women do it for you, huh?

Well, I like the green one so...

interesting.. the movie's out already.
but USA premiere date is next week, may 5th.

thought American movies usually premiere in the US first?

Nope. For marketing reasons many films are actually tested first in smaller markets around the world. Theres whole books on this subject.

and the downside for them is that the torrent is out.
it's pretty good for a cam.
2 scenes were cut out but didn't pertain much to the overall plot.

now what happens if the film bombs in small markets oversees?
do they re-shoot some scenes?!
whats the upside?

also, the cam includes ALL the end credit scenes.
the major one was:
Adam Warlock will probably be in Guardians Galaxy 3.
but maybe evil Adam aka Magnus?
If that gold priestess is the Goddess from the aftermath of Infinity War, then her 'twin' is Magus.

also, that same cocoon was shown in Guardians Galaxy 1 in the Collector's hideout.
so that could be Adam, and we'll see Adam vs Magus

saw this on fri (in UK) and loved it. soundtrack isn't as good as the 1st but it's good. even the end credits were worth a sit through and were great. seeing again tomorrow.

If you want to see it at opening, better buy your tickets soon. The 100 million overseas opening looks to be a 200 million domestic haul.

I still don't get why people liked the first one, but my friends are all abuzz about this second one.
Yeah, when I finally watched the first one, I completely failed to understand the appeal (and I don't have any particular issue with comic book movies). It seemed like an average summer blockbuster, only this time with obscure comic characters in it.

And yes, admittedly a good soundtrack.

I thought it was really charming. Good humor, good action, awesome characters with chemistry. It was actually fun in a rare way where other comic book films leave you feeling numb and apathetic afterword. Ever other movie that wasn't GotG, I just walked out of the parking lot having forgotten most everything in that nonstop extended fist-bashing event where no one dies or no one is hurt, the world isn't really better. GotG was just different. Lots of action, much of it mindless, yeah, but it felt like there were actual stakes, and well, it was just charming. I don't know how else to explain it.

I only knew of the characters through other, earlier comic books (well, before they eventually joined GoG--like when Gamorra and Drax were in the Infinity Watch and, before that, Drax was a Thanos-killing machine who, at one point, was also rendered completely mindless. This incarnation was all very new to me, and different from what they were before)

Are you fookin kidding? I bought mine weeks ago.
Just checked Fandango and they've been sold out for days.

the 3 baby groot centric scenes is what made this movie.

plots holes are what killed it:
opening scene: space monster is nigh-invulnerable.
so it was kinda convenient that it had gaping wound on it's neck. ugg.. 🙁
which, of course, the Guardians used to defeat the monster.

space ship armor can take a whole hell of ALOT of punishment if you're the good guy.

why are you such a disgusting thief? and why do you think anyone wants you to post anything in this thread?

I bought my ticket earlier today. Albeit, there weren't too many seats left, but I did get one in the middle near the back, which is good enough for me.

Saw it a few days ago. Too much explosions and laser gun shooting which made it monotonous. The story was weak, but on the bright side, quite a lot of one liners to make it comedic. I thought it was for teens but there is quite a bit of adult humor. Probably too much to take little kids to. It has a PG13 rating. Don't forget to stay during and after the credits, many extra scenes.

This is the downside to the video game generation now making movies. The same tropes about the uber space monster having the one weakness are straight out of a video game. Doesn't make it really bad as much as it does cause you to wonder if stuff was added just for the video game port.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought the story was weak. It wasn't the worst movie I've seen this year, or this week, but it wasn't really anything to write home about. The ending post credit scenes were pointless to me, and I've been reading comics for over 35 years.

I guess Stalone was Astro from the original 80s GotG book? I got that they were a call out to the book, at least I *think* so. I was a bit confused with it. I know the crystal guy and the future Sorcerer Supreme are from that book, but the rest I wasn't sure about. I also really didn't get the point outside the call out. I'm also really surprised they're giving up on baby Groot so quickly. I figured as much as people seem to love him in this movie he'd be around for too long.

Edit: One other thing I can't stop thinking about..
If you took the Sovereign out of it, would it have mattered? Did they really do anything other than give something else to shoot at? Something that we didn't have to touch the subject of killing people? Past that, I fail to see how they did anything to the storyline at all.
