I am just curious to see what the majority of you guys think the performance increase will be around on the GTX 880 Ti vs. the current GTX 780 Ti. I know no real for sure spec's, but just vote what you think or at least are expecting. Maybe also post how much vram you think it will have and the card cost.

Old AMD flagship poll before on the R290x before it was released. 🙂

25-35% (closer to 35%)
8GB (console parity, one uping AMD)
$600-$700

20% faster and $700. Just going on the videocardz rumour of 4 different cards including an 880 and 880ti. I figure with an 880ti, 880, 870 & 860, if true, they'll slot it in where the 780ti is right now.

RS, I always like reading your posts/opinion on pricing, so a couple questions on your opinion. So if the GTX 880 TI is around 30-35% performance increase, where do you think Nvidia might price it at and what is your opinion of where it should be priced at?
I know kind of a stuff question so if you prefer not to post a price/opinion that's fine.

I know vram amount will also be a factor, but for now lets assume its possibly turns out to be a 6GB/384 bit card for now.

TIA

880ti is definitely going to be in the $800-1000 range

It's a new architecture so I'll be a little optimistic and say 25-35%
My guess is that when new abilities are properly used the difference may become larger than 50%.
Of course in traditional game situation it most likely isn't going to go that high.

15-25% faster, but much more efficient.

These 28nm parts are probably just coming to get a few desktop sales, but to really jumpstart some mobile sales.

If the clocks remain the same as 780ti but with 2560 cores and maxwell efficiency, we are looking at around a 21% performance increase. So i say 15-25% unless the initial clocks are very high, then it might fall into 25-35% range.

My expectations for the GM200 chip;

~<8960 SP GFlops
~<4480 DP GFlops
8 GB GDDR5 for Desktop and 16 GB GDDR5 for Workstation.

My expectations for the GM204 chip;

~<6080 SP GFlops
~<1520 DP GFlops
4 GB GDDR5 for Desktop and 8 GB GDDR5 for Workstation.

I highly doubt it will have that much memory. nVidia has not offered more base memory than AMD in what, a decade or so now? It may have 6GB, which they can reach with either a 512bit or 384bit bus.

As for the poll, I think its a bit off. I highly doubt we will see an 880Ti any time soon. Will most likely be next summer. What will come out sooner is a straight GTX880. The Ti will come along later, which is par for the course with nVidia. Its always base model, then Ti later. At least when it comes to higher end cards. The 750/750Ti was a bit of an exception.

So with that said, I think the GTX880 will only be about 15-20% faster than a 780Ti. Which puts it at like 40ish percent faster than a plane 780?

I would like to think the price will stay in the $700 range. But currently somebody at nVidia is having delusions of grandeur in regards to what their cards are worth.

2010 was a decade ago? WHAT DID I MISS?!

Hint: GTX 480 had 1.5GB, 5870 had 1GB...

The 5870 came with 1GB and 2GB versions, and launched 6 months earlier than the 480. But if you consider that most 5870's were 1GB versions, then you are correct. It has happened, but is not par for the course.

I did think about whether to do post a GTX 880 or GTX 880Ti poll, but decided on the GTX 880Ti. I was kind of going off the below thinking maybe it will be another 750/750Ti similar release.

According to SemiAccurate, NVIDIA is preparing at least four GeForce SKUs to be released before jumping into smaller fabrication process. The list includes:
•GeForce GTX 880 Ti
•GeForce GTX 880
•GeForce GTX 870
•GeForce GTX 860

I paid just over $900 for my 780 Ti GHz here in Australia and I won't pay another $900 unless its minimum 30% faster across the board minimum's to averages. And who knows if an 880 will just be like a 680, I want the full fat big unlocked chip. Not the gimped pansy one.

i paid the same amount for 2 780s new

our dollars are par right now..that sucks.

25-35% faster and the same price as current 780ti. 880 will be $500 and be about 780ti speed. 6gb being standard on the 880ti with 3gb and 6gb being option on the 880.

pretty much every rumor says 256 bit for GM204 so basically no chance of being 3 or 6 gb.
