I'm thinking I should be fine with the R9 290 card, since the card that I have right now blows out air the same way as the R9 290.

I probably will have to think about it. I might even just go for a GTX 780, because of certain cooling issues as stated.

So I went ahead today and ordered the Sapphire R9 290 Tri X OC and an http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA...words=evga+psu

I was going back in forth about the R9 290 and the Evga GTX 780 with the two fans. The GTX 780 was $509 vs the $439 R9 290. I can get a copy of Watch Dogs with the GTX 780. With the R9 290 I can get 3 free games from there libarary. I figure since I don't like to play story games and games like GTA, then Watch Dogs would be a waste of a game for me. Figure since the R9 290 and the GTX 780 is about similar and since I will be saving $70 I went for the R9 290.

Going to get it delivered by tomorrow via Amazon. Hopefully it is a beast. 🙂
Will update you guys about it. This will be my first time upgrading a GPU and PSU. If there's anything that I should know, please reply. In the meantime I will be YouTubing videos on it.

Again, thanks to everyone for their help.

Okay, so I got the new card and PSU today. Installed it and everything seems to be working, but I got a black screen. I'm connect it to my TV via HDMI. Please help.

I place the old card back in there and on the screen it says PLEASE POWER DOWN AND CONNECT THE PCIe POWER CABLE(S) FOR THIS GRAPHIVS CARD. What is that?

Are the 6/8 pin connectors plugged into the card?

the old card would need 2x 6 pin connectors.

The new card might need either 1x 6pin and 1x 8pin or 2x8pin.

I only connected one 6 pin connector. I believe the old card only use one 6 pin. I have a bunch of wires that came with my PSU, so can I just add the extra wire by connect it to the GPU and PSU?

I got the screen to turn on, on the new card. I'm on the Bios Utility page. What to do next?

So got the card to work and playing BF4 on Ultra settings. Getting above 70 fps and up to the mid 100's. It looks awesome. I stop a lot and look around, because it looks gorgeous. Only thing is that the highest temp was 86 c and 70% fan speed. Is this okay?

I will have to add another fan etc to help cool it, in the near future. The sound when the fan got to 60-70% is a bit loud, but slightly lower than the stock GTX 760.

Damn good deal on that tri-x. If anything moves me back to AMD this would be the card that does it.

A little high on fan speed for that temp, but we figured you would want a little extra ventilation coming from that side panel vent anyway. Congrats on the card and glad the performance is meeting your expectations

Thank you. I just placed an order for a fan. I found a mount for a single fan in the front of the computer, where the front panel is at. Hopefully this will help keep the computer running cooler.
