Well I guess I pretty much called it, lol.

that's mostly in your head because people will complain about prices from either company. heck the vast majority think $999 was already an insane price for a card. the only reason more people dont complain about the gouging on top of that is because nearly no one here is actually going to buy one anyway. you will see more bitching about cards that many people would actually buy.Anyone who wasn't blinded knew that was going to happen because it always happens with the duel GPU cards.
I just find it odd that people aren't so quick to be vocal about the price gouging by Nvidia as opposed to AMD.

Many people feel that both NV and AMD has raised prices and given us a lackluster generational improvement. This is coming from both AMD and NV users. GTX680 being 35% faster than 580 is nothing to write home about. See more explanation below.
:thumbsup:
Exactly. HD6970 going from $370 to $550 is a big deal. GTX590 going from $700 to $1000 is almost irrelevant. People who buy GTX590 can probably afford a card for $1K anyway. Also, when single-GPUs go up in price, it affects the entire single-GPU line-up, which inevitably affects all buyers from $100-$500 GPUs:
HD6850 $179 --> HD7850 $249
HD6870 $239 --> HD7870 $349
HD6950 $299 --> HD7950 $449 (now fell to $399)
HD6970 $369 --> HD7970 $549 (now fell to $479)
Single-GPU line-up increasing in prices has just affected 6 AMD cards (I didn't include HD7750/7770 as they are complete junk compared to HD6850/6870 today).
When a dual-GPU card increases in price, it only affects people who were buying $700-800 GPUs (i.e., I doubt GTX295/HD5970/6990/GTX590 owners are as budget conscious).
I still think that's the wrong way to look at it. AMD does not cater to the AMD Video Card Market, it caters to the Video Card Market. As such, the Price of the 7970 was perfectly reasonable when it was released.
ThisThis is definitely the part that irritates me the most when we get into this price arguments. No one seems to acknowledge that GTX 580 launched at $500 and was selling for $490+ (without rebates) almost 14 months later.
Everyone expected a faster product to sell for less, a lot less. They have no justification outside of being consumers (which I don't fault them on) but looking at the markets, as I argued the markets will determine things, AMD saw an oppurtnity and they took it. ANd now people are LOLing because AMD has egg on their face, yet AMD still sold cards at those prices (just like GTX 690 will sell, GTX 580 sold at almost MSRP a year later.) If the markets support it the only person who should be LOL'ed are the morons making claims based on personal desires.

Yes this subject does irritate me haha.![]()

It's May 7th. Is this "wider availability" thing true?
