I dunno man. There doesn't seem to be much point in putting 670/680s under water because of the hard locked voltage. Unless you really want a quiet system.
 
On air? Seems like the ASUS DC2 top's are doing mid 1200s.

EVGA classified will be *the* card to get for water cooling. You can modify voltage with the EV bot tool. Unfortunately, it definitely will be expensive.

I'm ok with unlocking voltage and invalidating my warranty on the DC II, that's what I got it for anyway lol

Oh man, I completely forgot that you could do that on the asus cards as well. Kinda makes me regret not getting the asus 680s instead of the EVGA's that I have.....but then again, i'm using SLI so I can't use triple slot cards. Well, I COULD , but my temps wouuld be utter shite (i've tried triple slot cards in the past, they are BAD NEWS for sli...)

Whats involved in unlocking the voltage on the DC2's?

Seems easy, except you need a $400 motherboard to do it. I'd assume it's the same process with the dual slotted 670 DC2T. I'm sure there's a cheaper way to volt mod it without needing the ROG board, but we need to get the card into more peoples hands before we see it happen.
 
Yup. I consider them the best built NVIDIA cards this generation for the money. Without any word on the MSI Lightning, the only other card on the horizon with similar features is the Classified from EVGA which will undoubtedly be $700+. I am bored of black on black everything and trying to get it to match with the rest of the components in your case. That's what chicks do - color match everything. Bring on the performance, even if it means pink PCB with purple fans. I'll take GK110 painted lime green or brown. 😉

The black on black and black rims has been murdered out to the point of being thuggish/boring (unless you are in the mafia or drive a luxury car like S600). At least blue adds a touch of color and it's not like there aren't any blue memory heatsinks (g.Skill ares, corsair vengeance, etc.).

The reason Gigabyte uses blue is because it's the company color.

Yea, I don't get all the color hate, especially for that Gigabyte 670. Its a 680 reference PCB with an extra power phase over their own 680, for $399. Not bad at all.
 
The blue actually matches the VRMs and sinks on my asus P8Z77 deluxe. I told you to get a deluxe don! Perfect match 😀

I really like that gigabyte card....triple slot dc2 680 is a deal killer, the EVGA classified and gigabyte look tasty though. And matches my motherboard 😉
 
There's really no guarantee you can pull 1300mhz on water. Heat isn't as big of a limiting factor on these cards as much as juice and is
 
Yes sir. My reference 680 maxes at 1266 MHz whether it's at 35C or 75C, along with everyone else who has one under water. That's not saying you can't hit 1300 if you're lucky, but water won't help.
