HD7950 has an extra GB of video ram and doesn't have the flimsy PCB that GTX670 was built with.

If you buy a decent GTX 670 it has either the PCB from the 680 or a custom built one with excellent quality.

That is true. The 7970 Reference is definitely more robust. However, my brother just picked up an Asus GTX670 DC2, and it's awesome. It's whisper quiet. It's a really nice card, and the build quality is top notch.

Noted and thanks for the explanation, I am just getting frustrated with all of the trolling going on I guess. Civil discussions are rare nowadays.

Get the Gigabyte HD 7950 (900 Mhz). Once overclocked HD 7950(1.15 Ghz) is faster than GTX 680(1.3 Ghz) . people on overclock.net have posted their feedback after moving from GTX 680 to HD 7950. And with 3 quality AAA games its even more of an awesome deal.

Gigabyte also has released the HD 7950 Boost BIOS for this card with 1 Ghz boost clocks. with that BIOS you could easily run at 1.1 Ghz at stock voltage.

Sapphire 7950 950 MHz edition and ran on 12.8 and currently 12.10. Battlefield 3 and Borderlands 2 run like a dream, Diablo III and Dota 2 not so much. Diablo III is playable after some tweaking but Dota 2 is downright unplayable. Considering Dota 2 is my main game, it's kind of a bummer and makes me regret upgrading a bit.

If you're overclocking, the 7950 is a much better buy. Using the same site: http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=11830BD3894&vpn=GV-R795WF3-3GD&manufacture=GIGABYTE . The GTX 670 will be faster at stock, but once both cards are overclocked they'll be neck-and-neck. That said, the GTX 670 wouldn't be worth the extra $60. I think in either case getting the Gigabyte Windforce 3 is a great choice.

As far as upgrading goes, when you need more power just grab whatever newest GPU is out then. Multi-GPU is rarely a good idea and it's even rarer that it's a necessity.
