so you're asking if you should buy used mid range card from the 6 series or a 970? What? those are completely different levels of performance and price. based on the fact that you're asking such an odd question I think that you need to list all of your current specs including the native resolution of your monitor.
so you already have a 970? and a 7770?Amd 8320
12gb pc1600
Msi 970 gaming
7770
Corsair 750w
22" 1680x1050
so you already have a 970? and a 7770?
can you please make it clear what you are trying to accomplish?
okay I see now.My mobo is an Msi 970
Used after-market 290
Used 7970Ghz/280X
New 970
660Ti for $140 is a horrible value because a brand new faster 280 with 4 games and warranty is $170:

and whats your problem? I am simply trying to understand how his choice came down to two vastly different cards.Jeezus Toyota.
OP, I'd say a used 670. A 970 would go to waste on that CPU and at that resolution.
I'm wanting a 970 mini itx since my case won't fit a r9 280x
Antec three hundred
I see, Max clearance is 11" or so.
Try to find a gtx670/760 that price,if not gtx660ti is the way to go.
on second thought : I think you can find a new 270X around that price(~$150).
or wait for GTX960, it's due next month.

With the bays full with HDDs my old 9600gt couldn't fit anymore. Is there a short r9 280x?
