Patched the game, but still have the weird lighting probs 🙁. Here's another pic

The update was awesome for Controller users though, my PS2 controller was auto-bound by the game and it's just like classic GTA controls (since I chose classic controls). Didn't even have to set it up. So I'm really glad about the controller recognition but lighting problems are still there for me.

Hasn't Rock* said that a quad core and mid-range GFX card will give a better gaming experience than a dual core and a super ultra mega $9000 gfx card?

I didn't like the patch at all. I was using S-racer's xbox360cemu and it worked perfectly on original xbox S-controller with rumble and all. Now the patch made me lose rumble and xbox360cemu didn't work anymore. I reverted back to original 1.0 because there wasn't anything worth while in the patch to make me lose rumble.

The game is very CPU dependent like MMRPG because there's so many things going on all the time. Better graphics will give you better picture quality but not in the forms of frame rate increase like a CPU will.

I gained average of 3fps by overclocking my CPU by 250mhz more. A quad would run this game more smoother.

Since everyone obviously loves the port 😉

Sucky patch. Probably won't be another patch for at least 3 weeks (just guessing though). Think I'll just have to bite the bullet and play with all the weird graphical problems. At least it runs well.

Game actually seems to run a lot worse since the update, along with not fixing any of the graphical issues I'm having :/

Rockstar really is doing a crappy job with this release. Kinda sad 🙁 - They must be working on something else big right now and can't pay much attention to the PC port. I'm about to stop giving Rockstar the benefit of the doubt though.

Too bad for people having problems with the game. They're missing out, I'm enjoying it.

The game seems to run pretty well for me now. I'm running an e4300/4GB/9600gt. I had horrible performance till I OC'd to 2.7ghz. The only problem I'm having is occasional lighting issues.

How is anybody actually playing this? I have an e7200 @3.16ghz, 4gig ram, 9600GT oc'd and this is UNPLAYABLE at lowest settings. My system ran Crisis smooth as butter.

I'm playing on medium textures with highest detail with draw distance with 384vram can handle just fine with my system below. Not the highest of frame rates but this is a 3rd person mostly driving game. I get an average of 25fps in actual game play. 40fps on the benchmark.

This game needs a quad core badly. http://www.pcgameshardware.com..._13_processors/?page=2

Rockstar recommended a quad core even in their system requirements. CPU matters more in this game than GPU.

Minimum Hardware Requirements:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8Ghz, AMD Athlon X2 64 2.4Ghz
Memory: 1.5GB
Free Hard Drive Space: 16GB
Video Card: 256MB NVidia 7900 / 256MB ATI X1900
DirectX 9 compatible Stereo Sound Card
Keyboard
Mouse

Recommended Hardware Requirements:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz, AMD Phenom X3 2.1Ghz
Memory: 2GB (Windows XP) 2.5GB (Windows Vista)
Free Hard Drive Space: 18GB
Video Card: 512MB NVIDIA 8600 / 512MB ATI 3870
DirectX 9 compatible Surround Sound Card
Keyboard
Mouse

Good game so far, hasn't crashed yet. It's the first game that's too much for my E7200 @ 3.2GHz. I'll try pushing it a little more, but I'm really thinking about getting a Q6600.

I have one of the recommended vid cards (3870 512MB) and 4GB of ram.

I'm just guessing at least 50% of people who bought the game are unable to play this game even though they far exceed the minimum requirements.

Even Rockstar had a "come and play with us" event yesterday for online play and most of the people from Rockstar who were supposed to play didn't show up...wonder why 😛

With a minimum is absolutely base system that can run the game. Not well but it will run. Biggest complains were performance issues. GTA being such a big title we have more complainers because they have a single core cpu or slow dual core. Some even with Vista running with only 2 gigs of ram and calling a memory leak when they are swapping page file. You need fast dual core or a quad to make the game somewhat playable and the mass of computer users don't even have that.

Yep! This game has brought my e6600 @ 3.0ghz to its knees. I think I'm going to get a q6600 to tide me over my next system build. The game is playable, but not up to the standards of which I have become accustomed. 😉

I think im going to give it a try, tho I'm still very apprehensiuv. Everyone I see bitching about the game has dual cores and 8800GT or GTS cards or 9600GT and 2gb ram. as long as it run in the 30 FPS range I think ill be ok with it. 😛

I think it would run fine for you roid450.

I think I'm going to do a quad core upgrade soon, but for the past week, my lowly AMD Opteron 165 has been just fine. The graphics will be better and the game smoother with an upgrade, but it is still very enjoyable. I'm not sure how much I've logged so far but my addiction level was something about "this is some good shit" and my longest game was 4 hours straight. 😀

Yeah you should be okay with your rig. I'm running an E6600 @ 3.0ghz, 8800 GTS 512, with 4GB of ram and average 40fps using the in game benchmark tool. That's at 1280x1024.

You'll be pleased.
Im running it at 1920x1200 on Q6600@3.4ghz / Vista 64 / 8gb DDR2 / GTX 280 / X-FI
And it hovers in the 50fp's

I did have to back down my Q6600 overclock from 3.6ghz to 3.4ghz for this particular game or it kept kicking me to desktop.
Odd, since ive passed 16hrs of quad prime and many many games including Crysis, Fallout 3 , Warhead , Dead Space etc...etc..etc....
This is the VERY first game or test that made me back off my Q6600 overclock since i bought it.

Anyway, if you have the hardware, game runs and looks great.

hmmm....looks like I'll pass on this one. You think if the specs were going to be so dog gone ridiculous, Rockstar would release a dang demo!

I feel bad for those that dropped their hard earned coin on this and can't play it.

gogamer has it for 40 shipped. Seeing that it's impossible to DL this game let alone find a crack for it, I'll just buy it,

It's no wonder that we suffer all of this DRM! :disgust:
