This is why the game has stuttered like crazy lately. 3mb of junk code obfuscating call functions. LLAAAAAAGGGGGGGG

thx rs

I have never had a stronger love/hate relationship with a developer.

Rockstar's mishandling of GTA V on PC has been extremely upsetting, they continue to basically make it worse and introduce new bugs constantly. I wish they'd stop adding content to GTA Online for a short spell and simply focus on stability and performance.

I wish they'd abandon GTA Online entirely and move on to something else. Their efforts would be much better put towards porting Red Dead Redemption to PC than trying to stay one step ahead of people who are hellbent on figuring out how to mod their game.

Developers can do both. I wouldn't want them to abandon GTA Online. I have been intended to play it, that was the sole reason for buying it again on the PC. But since I haven't been able to get the game 100% stable and smooth, I haven't wanted to get into GTA:O because I don't want the risk of dropping or suffering control issues due to stuttering.

stuttering and frame pacing issues are game breaking for me i really can't tolerate them which is why i often lock these open world games to 30fps but even @ 30fps this game has issues so i stopped playing it and will wait until i see something about performance fixes

Are these issues just starting after that last patch or have you have you always had them? That last patch was the suck for me....I never noticed any stuttering now driving is horrible...I replayed the Paleto score (minigun bank heist) last night going for gold medal and it crawled to a slideshow a one point.

It's been a bit off and on but was mostly fine before. Sometimes I'd have to do the old vsync off and back on trick but most of the time things were fine.

Since the latest updates I just seem to have bad frame pacing all the time. I can easily spot it because I use a gamepad, and nothing pans smoother than a gamepad when you just slightly push the analog stick to slowly pan around you can see some frames are lasting longer than others. Just gives the game a choppier feeling that I can't stand.

I really honestly truly believe PC gaming is going downhill. They just don't care anymore guys. The games are going to make them a ton of money regardless. The kids will always buy the new games and all the DLC. Gotta have that new thing. Watch Dogs, GTA5, AC Unity, Arkham Knight, all games running like crap on PC's with beast hardware. And these are all the highest budgets games that came out. The only games that run good on PC anymore are ones where PC is the main platform, like RTS games etc...

ya the stutter is there right now for MANY people.

My stutter got much better after changing the power settings on the card as I had mentioned before since the game HATES it when the cards drop down to lower states during mission load times where the CPU is getting taxed and the GPU is near idle. By keeping the card in the Pzero state at the lower voltage and core it still runs at near 1 ghz and at 1.04 volts for me stopping those crashes altogether.

Seriously ANYONE with a Geforce card should switch their AF to forced in control panel and off ingame as well as testing out MFAA in the control panel will see a IMMENSE perf boost to their MSAA use.

Force MFAA in the control panel and you get twice the performance of regular MSAA for free. If you set 2xmsaa ingame you get 4x performance for same cost. 4x gets you essentially 8x performance. MUCH smoother than the ingame effects.

With the current patch I would recommend dropping grass down to normal till rockstar gets a fix. I noticed MUCH less stuttering online since the GPU doensnt have to deal with making shadows for all those extra edges.

Keep HQ grass for single player but for Multiplayer set that one tick down if you have a 980 or better since even my SLI gtx 970s are getting destroyed by this patch. Playing on the OCd single 980 MUCH better experience with better graphics options available.

I tested Futurefields setup capping at 30 fps and it really wanst bad at all. I am about to fire up the game with downsampled res and 4x MFAA and 2x aa on the shadows. Game ran surprisingly smoothly on the projector in singleplayer. Will test in a few on the 120 hz gtx 980 setup. I can run maxxed settings at 4k capped at 30 and it only slowed down with the minigun which EVERYONE is having issues so I wonder if the game is just optimised for 30 fps and it actually doesnt look that bad.

Will let you guys know later

About to run 4 pac standards with some RL friends. Wife is gone for day with kids at inlaws. BEER IN 15 !!!!!

GDI

"First up, we're all sorry for the problems we encountered with the release last night. Unfortunately, there was a game breaking performance issue which was found only a few hours before we intended to release and this has required some time to investigate.
The good news is that we've done our best to mitigate this problem, related to the way in which Rockstar has started to introduce anti-modding protections. For those of you interested in the technical detail, here's a snippet of a performance test ran by Alexander Blade and LMS:
Performance difference between GTA V version 372 and 393
Calling SET_CURRENT_PED_WEAPON 1000 times via ScriptHookV and RAGEPluginHook (code used is provided below): 372: ~582ms (RPH: ~585ms) 393: ~2480ms (RPH: ~2490ms)
Performance on version 323/350 is most likely even better due to even less/no obfuscation than 372. In short, on the previous patch (372), it took 585 milliseconds for the function to be executed 1000 times. On the newest patch (393), it took 2490 milliseconds, which is roughly 2.5 seconds, to be executed 1000 times. This means that this particular function takes five times longer to execute on the latest patch than it did previously. LSPDFR 0.2 and 0.1 call this function a lot, mainly to stop other police officers from killing suspects, as we force them to be unarmed when appropriate by using it. As such, during a pursuit with even a couple of units, performance takes a hit.
With the problem identified, we've managed to come up with an alternative way of doing things that doesn't have such a dreadful impact on performance. This version is currently undergoing testing, and we hope to be in a position to release 0.2 as soon as possible. Note that I won't commit to a date, as it is possible we run into further issues, and we'd like to avoid a situation similar to last night's, but there is still the possibility that we can release today, and we'll keep you updated as to our progress.
Sam." snip

i tried mfaa but 2x mfaa + txaa still didn't look as smooth to my eye as regular 4x msaa + txaa

at any rate, that's not really the issue for me since I lock to 30fps my gpu is usually running between 40-70% so I have plenty gpu power to spare, it's just game engine issues ruining the experience

what did 4x MFAA look like? I cant see how that can look worse for the same gpu cost. The Shadow MSAA also applies MFAA as well doesnt it? I added that and had zero penalty.

Running the game on a i3 3220 and gtx650,back in April this setup worked incredibly well for 720p low but suddenly it feels like stutter city. It's entirely cpu bottlenecked at 720p but even benchmarks show half the Min framerate now a days....

Could it be the recent patches that caused this?Running the same exact 350.12 drivers.Maybe the more recent of drivers could resolve this? It's running so damn horrible it feels worst off then GTA 4 i swear and i may just uninstall this game.....

your not alone bro. Lots of stuttering since they implemented new DRM three patches ago. Been getting progressively worse.

If you have a beefy system you can lower some settings and almost make it dissprst but its still there.

Good times

Updated the drivers to 353.30 and quite a bit of the stutter has seemed to disappeared but it still does hitch with some stutter here and there.Frame rate still is a bit lower but what can you do you know.

I have only played the storymode so far in this game,is the stutter that much worst in multiplayer or something?

kind of. the multiplayer turns into a slideshow for most people when a minigun is used and the stuttering gets you killed occasionally. I warped into a building after taking off from the airport. Thats like two miles.....NOW that was prolly lag but man. sucks

I'm still on single player with the 372 patch playing almost every day. So I don't have the stutter, lag and fps issues I'm reading about. How do I get past the Social Club verification check? I change the PC system date to April 19 before launching the game, after unplugging the net connection. I think April 15-20 all work too.

April 21 was the date of the big second patch so changing the date to before that helps to bypass the Social Club check. But I wouldn't try before April 15, don't know how that would work. But you should have no problem with using April 19 or 20 and enjoy single player all you want without the annoying net verfication. But make sure you change the date back to today after your're done playing and reboot.

Of course I'll probably want a cool new mod in a day or two so I'll have to logon online and get the 393 patch, then install the new mods. And after I get the new mods and everything else working right or at least acceptable enough, then I'll bypass the Social Club check again by changing the date.

It's not for everyone as changing the system date can mess up things if you're not careful. But I rarely use the net on my gaming rig below. I go online for new Steam games, to update Win 7 once a month and to update Norton security too. But not much else. I have another PC for web use like the forums.

Why? Graphics arent everything.

Tons more play on console and theres a lower percentage of hackers. On pc every kid is running mod tools now. And matchmaking is a joke on PC.

because it looks and plays so much better on pc.

All your complaints are based around multiplayer. But GTA V's multiplayer component is just awful, even when it's working perfectly. And if you take multiplayer out of the equation, the PC version of GTA V is the definitive version. They just need to stop breaking it with patches.

I just don't understand why somebody would say they "only recommend it on PC", that is ridiculous. There are a lot of good reasons to get the console version of any game. Orders of magnitude more people play those versions. That's just blind pc master race bs.
