@Futurefields It is not too unfair if the 'catch up' option is checked. You can also host and turn off modded vehicles... But that can get pretty bland.

catch up aka the bane of my existence

just make the races completely fake

hate that its on by default too

I agree, Totally kills the race imo. But it always seems to be enabled in matchmaking. R* definitely should have left it off by default.
Has anyone been playing online with mods without being temporary banned?

OK this game is badass. Looks awesome, gameplay is great. Its a rare gem in an ocean of crappy games.

Graphically I think you are correct, the city and surrounding areas can look spectacular. There were a few times when I happened to be in the right place at the right time to see a sunrise over the city, thunderstorms on the mountain or foggy wilderness that just made stop and think that this looks really good.

The sound also I thought was excellent, the gamut of ambient noises makes me wonder how they found the time to include such a comprehensive audio library including people's chatter, city background sounds, animals and even vehicle effects like the door open buzzer or the plink plink plink of a cooling engine when you get out of a car.

But the gameplay is not something I'd describe as great. The combat mechanics are pretty poor and all the missions are far too easy (although this may be a side effect of using a mouse for shooting instead of a controller, further exaggerated when combined with Michael or Trevor's special ability). Thankfully the missions are more based around driving than shooting and the driving mechanic I think they nailed the correct mix of arcade style fun with realism to make it enjoyable, even if derelict of any skill.

I would have also like to have seen a slightly longer single player campaign at the expense of the online game. It took me just shy of 100 hours to explore the single player mode which I feel represented pretty good value, but the online segment I found lost its appeal quite fast and would have rather seen the effort from online go into enhancing the single player game.

Yes, though not me (banned until 30th) :)

If I get to keep the one billion snacks in my inventory, it would have all been worth it! Also carrying around a billion beers and smokes. Thought I'd be safe if I didn't kill/troll players or buy a golden plane. Oh well. They normally don't take anything other than money away from people.

Agreed on this - the online aspect to me briefly interested me, and then I realized how poorly done it was. No real multiplayer aspects for me other than "oh look, someone died." "Oh look, some dude just blew uh 15 people at once. Including me." "Oh, I'm waiting in a queue again. I quit."

I have enough steam games to make GTA Online something not worth any of my time.

I dont want to play COD los santos either. I play heists and missions with friends and use lots of passive mode. Its actually fun again as I dont waste time with meaningless runs with idiots and disconnects. Ill play with any of you guys PM me your gamertag :)

Sorry you got banned justoh

I walked into a bunch of money and changed sessions before taking in about a million. Bought a Buzzard and didnt feel bad about it once :p

Yeah I also got about a million from someone last month (maybe 800k). When they did the ban wave they removed all of my cash (about 3m). I played the game a lot and have about 30m legitimately earned. Didn't really need any cash, though I did spawn money for all the new ill gotten gains cars on both characters.

I know I won't lose any of the cars (already had all the pegasus vehicles worth having before I used any mods), but the thing I care most about are the snacks. A billion of all snacks! Think about it!

Incidentally, http://www.autohotkey.com/ for easy macro creation. I have it set up where "\" automatically eats two ego chasers. I got f3 to summon car. f1 armors up, etc. Really helpful. Macros are completely legit, obviously.

That's true, anybody with an HDD's opinion is worthless.

Hahaha. Right.

No need to be facetious.........:hmm:

What I meant is that all the review sites and people on Youtube who actually take reviewing seriously will put the money into hardware worth reviewing on, which most likely means an SSD.

I can see an HDD being an issue for someone with not enough RAM or if the came is streaming from the HDD so constantly that it can't keep up with what the game is requesting in lieu of the graphics settings involved. It's a big and detailed game.

Who else thought the voice of non stop pop was adorable? Not bad looking either, apparently (had no idea who she was):

Quite impressive voice acting. A tomboy. Plays the drums. Victoria secret model. Big time gamer. Full package! Is this "sexist?" Appropriate for a gta thread then.

Love this guy too:

A "butterface"...... unless its just the weird makeup and expression making her appear that way. Need more pics to determine! If you had given us a name it would be easier to google and find out. :D

Edit: But yeah her voice was hot!

Remember all the testing done that showed RAID 0 didn't help games much? Same more or less applies to SSDs. It's still an order of magnitude slower than something already in system RAM.

Not really a tech expert or anything but I read somewhere that because gta v has very little compression (hence the huge storage requirement) it doesn't benefit as much from a ssd? Still about 30% faster according to randoms on reddit, and maybe i'm talking absolute nonsense about the compression (or lack thereof) implications.

I understand that fully. But it's up to the devs to make sure to mitigate HDD/SDD requests by loading enough data into RAM before it's needed so the user isn't waiting. I'm not saying this was the issue, but it seems fully in the realm of possibility.

Not really. A lot of the problem there will be if the game loads too much into system RAM, or something else is using a bunch of system RAM (or you just don't have much) the OS will page out the data into the swap file causing you to hit the disk anyway. You can do SOME to mitigate that I guess (touching your pages often or something?) but the fundamental problem remains.

tons of issues with people dropping out of heists. Guys that normally play for hours getting kicked out of lead screens.

I have had a few crashes during the loading of the big map after a heist which didnt really matter other than the fact that the DAMN money I had just earned dissapeared. Or I am bad at maths.

Only have crashed in this game during heists. Never in missions or map.
