Which parts? I'm not in the US and its dead accurate.

If you're not in the US, how can you tell it was was "dead accurate" to NYC style?

Granted, places like Boston and basically all of urbanized Europe have narrow streets more often than not, but I found it funny how you could offer your opinion on NYC accuracy. ;)

TotalBiscuit's Port Report is out:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUEYJS799dI

He recommends turning all advanced graphics settings off (If you have performance issues). Check the video at 08:15

God he irritates me sometimes, says blatent lies to like 2 million subscribers and has comments disabled so no one can easily correct him. The assertion that the long shadows and high resolutions shadows requires "a beast of a machine" is just completely false. I'm running with those things on with a single 980 in 2560x1600 and it runs at a smooth 60fps just fine with damn near all other settings maxed out.

Then he immediately goes on to say there's no quicksave option, which is just completely false as well. What an idiot.

*edit*

He also talks about optimising for specific frame rates, which is idiotic, there's no such thing as optimising for specific frame rates, a function is either optimised or it's not. What he's talking about regarding hitting 120 or 144fps for 120hz/144hz monitors is running into CPU bottlenecks which is clearly apparent from all the professional benchmarks done on this game.

Anyone tried using SMAA via an injector yet ? (Like SweetFX). Does it work ? Any side-effects ?

I also think he's nitpicking too much on the view distance. But I guess that's his job...

Yeah, he says it's just preference, but then goes on to disable the advanced LOD options in favour of other settings or running at 120fps. If he wants less pop in the crank those settings up and then lower something else like shadow complexity or post processing effects, AA or whatever.

Anyone getting regular crashes without any warning? My longest session in GTAV to date is 23 minutes. It creates no logs and just freezes visuals with audio continuing before the screen goes black and logs me out of RSSC.

Performance wise even a single PCS+ 290 (1150/1450) keeps it chugging at 1080p (all maxed, CHS & 4xMSAA).

Ran the benchmark on a i3 3220 and gtx650 that my cousin has, went about seeing what this lower end gpu can do.Considering the idea of getting him the game but just wasn't sure how it would hold up.The following is results for 768p all low, outside of AF at 16x and population density and scaling distance sliders maxed....

Frames Per Second (Higher is better) Min, Max, Avg
Pass 0, 23.951298, 68.619865, 54.588207
Pass 1, 47.107800, 88.441795, 70.489258
Pass 2, 38.874527, 100.878143, 75.689018
Pass 3, 29.931765, 85.076729, 71.068977
Pass 4, 20.530666, 119.398071, 66.921593

Only occasionally does there seem to be a slight bottleneck from the cpu, card isn't always pegged but any other settings go pass pegging the 1gb this thing has and it starts stuttering. It's incredibly smooth in-game honestly.

RockStar did a incredibly good job on this port,i am impressed.Didn't expect much from the 650.

Is there any point to actually spending money on cars? Twice I've upgraded car and stored them in the garage. Then when I take them out and go on a mission the game forces me to use a different car, and when I come back my car is gone. It really sucked the first time it happened, because it was before the first job and I spent all my money on the car!

I would also keep in mind that he probably hasn't done as much testing as we all would have wanted him to. For instance, he probably should have known that extended shadows is almost no performance impact on modern GPUs. Also his testing rig was a dual 980 running 1080p, using a 144mhz monitor and targeting frame rates above 80. Thats just silly. No one games like that unless your playing counter strike. He should have pushed the most sensible options and targeted a solid 60.

I think you need to take what he said into context with his attitude, etc. When he said all that it came across as 'I think this is what's happening as far as I know', not that he was asserting it as absolute truth.

I like TB because he's a PC advocate. Discloses partnerships when he makes them and in general seems to have more integrity than most youtubers.
The technical side of things is definitely not his forte, as long as one is aware of that, TB is a decent channel to follow.

From my limited time with the game, it's a decent port. A good performance/image quality compromise is within reach for many, beyond that the horsepower demand rises exponentially to the point of needing 2+ GPU's to max out the game.

GTA V does show it's age and old gen roots. The hours of manpower thrown at it create living environments but in 2015, the visuals don't quite hold up when inspected closely. It would have been one of, if not the best looking game if it had launched when R* first reached this level of graphics, back around the time MP3 was launched.

He seemed oddly disinterested in GTA V in general.

I don't understand why Franklin's head is a jaggy mess with FXAA enabled. Only MSAA seems to cover his head but MSAA kills my performance. Weird because on the Xbox 360 version which I am playing side by side right now at the same location and time of day on the map and Franklin's head doesn't have a single one of those weird flare/jaggy things on it. Perhaps because it's just a flat texture on the 360 version yet still, this is an odd implementation of FXAA indeed. I know if I were to be able to inject FXAA with RadeonPro I could have that smoothed right up, but can't run RadeonPro with this game (or any other AA injector from what I have read)

I'd like to know this as well.

With the cars, I think you can go to the impound lot and pay a small fee to get your car back. I remember reading this in one of the corner blips that pop up, you can give it a shot and see if it is there...

Your car isn't gone, it gets impounded. Go get it out of the police station.

Really it's for fun and to enter the races with them.

I'm not going to pick on you specifically here... but it totally pisses me off when people say this because it frankly isn't true. NO ONE has topped gta 5 yet. No one has created as detailed and full world that is %100 accessible. If they did..I WOULD BE PLAYING IT! GTA 5 was and is the best looking last gen console game (*** I havn't played the last of us yet, I also hear it was a visual star on the ps3 as well), in most cases by a large margin. Its been 2 years and all the triple A companies have released junk. So 1 1/2 years later they release gta 5 with higher resolution textures, DX11 level shaders, the latest generation of AA methods, shadow modeling, ambient occlusion, hell they even let you apply MSAA to the reflections (who the hell does that?!), how is that not the makings of the best looking game we currently have?

Oh yea, and they did it in a package so optimized and efficient that SLI conigs.. thats two cards.. not 3.. not 4.. are running 4k resolutions at 60fps! And it scales all the way down to where even the slowest gaming level cards like the 750gtx, and mobile cpus 640m or better can still do the 720p ps3 level graphics at 60fps... that's not just good.. that's DAMN good.

Thanks, I'll check it out.

There are too many "free" cars around to be wasting any money on one. :sneaky:

If I dont drive my own car, I prefer to steal the Gremlin clone. I dont know why, but rolling in a Gremlin and listening to West Coast Classics is as good as it gets. But in general I'm not into stealing cars and random violence. hehehe I even tried stopping at red lights. Part of that was to stop damage to my car, but its like they made the time interval just as long as a real red light. I even stop muggers. When I eventually jump into online I will be a vigilante.
