I keep hearing about the memory leak when alt-tabbing but I haven't experienced any issues. I alt-tab all the time in borderless fullscreen but have not experienced any CTD's or BSD's or running low on memory.

I'm skeptical if setting GTAV's priority in task manager has an effect.
seems like theres loads of separate issues for this game and R* has a lot of work cut out for them.

edit: Found a bug - If placing the system into sleep mode while the game is running, the game sound will be disabled until restarting PC. Restarting the game has no effect. May be an issue with my hardware.

Alt-tabbing in exclusive fullscreen is not the same as borderless fullscreen, which is really just windowed mode without the window frame and set to the resolution of the monitor.

TotalBiscuit's Port Report is out:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUEYJS799dI

He recommends turning all advanced graphics settings off (If you have performance issues). Check the video at 08:15

I watched that this morning. Whats strange is I have all the stuff he turned off turned on and haven't had any problems. Frame rate never drops below 60-70 fps on a single 780 Ti, with everything turned up. I am using FXAA instead of MSAA since it appears its not supported on my card. Two 980s should crush this game. Its rare that a AAA PC game is released and everything pretty much works and runs good on launch.

I was talking about the memory leak associated with borderless fullscreen.

I brought it up because I prefer borderless to fullscreen, and someone told me about the memory leak in borderless and that I should go back to fullscreen. Unless they meant the opposite and that alt tabbing in fullscreen causes the memory leak.

Either way, I doubt this is a real problem for everyone.

I can alt-tab and never have a crash since I changed my page file to my mechanical drives and turned off my SSD.

Ive been using boarder less window for better alt tab friendlyness, have had no issues with crashes or strange performance drops.

Btw I've changed up my settings a little bit (edited my post a few pages back). I find that the extended distance scaling is just hard to see in action, and may just be best left off unless you have a setup where maxing keeps you above 60fps. I dropped high resolution shadows as well just get get an avg fps bump. The high resolution shadows only seemed to benefit some views, others still saw drops in resolution due to LOD in action. I'm also runnning MFAA at 8x now (4x MSAA) and it hasn't tanked my numbers by any means. Still doing 50fps avg on the benchmarks.

Btw I did fine that extended shadow distance on modern video cards only has an impact of about 1fps, so max that sucker out. No one wants to see that ugly shadow pop in!

I suck so hard at the racing that the game won't let me play. I lost five in a row of the first racing mission and then legit CTD. It rejected my suck.

I won my first and only race using an the El Camino clone. Wasnt even looking to race, just saw a blue question mark and pulled over, and the Asian dude started talking trash! Just rammed everyone off the road. I'm kinda having a hard time in general controlling the higher end cars using the keyboard. The Mustang clone is about as high end as I can use and still corner and drift.

Dont forget, you can use Franklin's special ability. He has a driving special ability which slows down time and can pull you straight out of a catastrophic crash like magic.
just hit slow motion on sharp curves or if you start to skid out of control and bam!!!!

Soon as you get out of the curve or your car back in control, turn off the special ability so you dont use it all the way up. You never know when you will need it again, things can get hairy in a flash in these races. It is so random.

I played the entire PS3 game and never used Franklins ability in a race. When i was trying to finish all the races and side missions, I got to one i just couldnt beat try after try. But then it hit me........why was i not using his ability in races all this time? All of a sudden.......
I had super powers.

the jaggies in this game are killing it for me

its like fxaa is doing barely anything, and when i enabled msaa i get that weird rectangle of artifacts in the lower right corner

the xbox 360 version is the definitive version of this game imo

Ok, I think there is something going on with your game, especially with the shadows? I can't believe you prefer the 30fps low resolution version of this game; the 360 version had far more aliasing unless you played on a 480p tv.

I am running fxaa only and it is doing a really good job at removing the 'jaggies'. I do notice a shimmering effect with cars at night which kinda bugs me, but that is really it. I would try running the game without any 3rd party tools for aliasing or filtering to see if it helps. I also notice that the CHS shadow setting is not that great compared to softer or softest.

Try turning Post FX down to high when using MSAA on that GPU.

This only happens on my rig with 7950's in it.
My R9 290's don't have the issue.
Both using 15.4 drivers.
