Did i see 360?!?!
I was wondering the same thing, looked like 360 to me. However, I must say that the only thing that impressed was his knowledge of the 13-mile track. Otherwise, if you watch his throttle/brake meters, he has no throttle control at all. Now, I'm not sure if proper throttle control would net him a faster time, but I'd like to think so :). Also, he takes almost all curves at full throttle, so I'm sure I could do similar in the same car. The only thing that looked hard to do was to spin out of the curves.

That's what I was looking at as well, and I figured, he could prolly pull a 4:30 on the track if he got the speeds right, and was touching the corners of the track while cornering. Basically, he's using his engine to brake, so anyone that asked whether he could do that in real life: he would probably blow the engine of any car that he is given. Also, I did notice that he had some wheelspin in some of the corners, so if he would've got the traction right, then he would have also got a faster time.

Engine braking doesn't "blow your engine."

He'd complain about the lack of realistic force-feedback.

he's oversteer within 3 corners and crash into a wall. come on he had TCS on... most people who play GT4 for a bit can do that with a day or two of practice.

That sounded incredibly like an armchair expert.

If we extrapolate from Top Gear's track times (80s or Enzo/carrera/atom, 60s for Renault F1, 60/80=.75) that means that Shumacher in Ferrari's F1 will most likely be able to make it under 5 (current record is mins ->7*.75 = 5:15)

It's EASIER with TCS off in my opinion.

I don't have an F1 in GT4 yet, but in GT3, yeah, that kind of stuff was the norm. I had some UNGODLY times on Cote de Azur using a damned CONTROLLER. Nurburgring is actually a fairly straight course, most of it's... 170+ "turns" are wide, sweeping ones. It just LOOKS like a hard track because it's narrow, it's fast, it's long, and the minimap makes all the corners look HUGELY exaggerated. I'm working on memorizing it myself, I'm down to about 8 minutes in the S7 (down from 16 my first runthrough). My second runthrough was the pacecar run on the IA test, I got gold, which is just a hair over 9 if I recall, and that car sucked. Of course, I was also following the pace's perfect racing line.

Oh, and I WANT THAT PACE CAR! Too bad you have to wait for an extreme event to win it.

I will admit. Those straights were unreal.
