And i thought the ls7's 7000rpm redline was nuts, this thing rev's to 8250. Bravo ford, bravo.

Sounds great. I really, really want a 2018 edition. I have a '68 and want one 50 years after. That GT350R will eat me on corners, but from the get go it would be close. Provided I could keep my front tires from lifting off the ground.

Decided to read about them. I suppose it'll sound and "feel" (vibrate) like a 4-cylinder, because it's essentially two i4's paired.

Who is going to call this a "ricer" solution? Don't most of the target audience for thiscar wants low revolutions torque from their engine? They always seem to point out deficiency of high strung engines aka Honda S2K or something like that.

I doubt this engine is giving up any torque for revs, it simply has the revs too.

Apparently Ferrari has been using flat plane cranks for all of their V8's for a long time. The noise and vibration characteristics of a flat plane V8 more closely resemble a flat-4 than a cross plane V8.

The car sounds amazing to me, though to my ears it doesn't sound like anything Italian. I have to give Ford credit - I really admire what they have done with the Mustang, and particularly the high-performance versions. The GT350R is on the short list of current cars that will very likely have collector value in the future (and while I would not personally buy the stripped-out one, I bet it ends up being worth more than the one with basic creature comforts).

Ditto, even on the "consumer" models. IRS, 32mpg Ecoboost I4, etc. has me eyeballing a '15 model as my next ride :thumbsup:

Also, the 350R is like the Z/28. Stripped interior and truly meant as a track car. Well, except the A/C and stereo options gives you a real stereo instead of the plain one in the Z/28. About 130 lbs of weight saving over the GT350

With 526hp I think I'll keep the creature comforts. I wonder if this car will be any easier to live with on a daily basis than the GT500 you owned.

I might have to give this car a serious look when it becomes available. If they're asking markups though forget it. I'm not interested.

Probably. What killed the GT500 was the solid axle and the harsh suspension. They've licensed the Delphi technology for this one. As long as they've set it up sanely, it will be able to go from a decent ride on the street, to a stiff ride for the track.

Yep, HP/L is for bragging rights and it's not even a good metric for that.

A big-displacement pushrod V8 will almost always weigh less than a high-strung, low-displacement DOHC motor.

That said, there are two situations where it makes sense.

The utterly stupid regulations that tax based on displacement in some parts of the world and in a racing series that limits displacement.
