the point of grunge wasn't to be cool.
To me it was about doing what you want without caring about the repercussion.

But yes I still like it
I be listening to smashing pumpkins right now🙂

I could never get over Corgans HORRIBLE singing. Chris Cornell was a great singer so was Eddie Vedder, Cobain had cool gravelly voice and Layne Staley was alright. But Corgan... ugh.

ahhh, the early 90's... I sure miss it.
Badmotorfinger is still one of my favorite albums of all time.
Wow you are a Soundgarden fan? Wouldn't guess it from your P&N posts.

And from your P&N posts, I wouldn't have guesssed you could tie your own shoelaces, much less operate a computer. But this isn't P&N, it's OT - so let's pretend I didn't just say that. 😉

Ha, I remember in the early 90's when everyone said Grunge was crap. Music had died, the only good stuff was from 10 years before that.... etc etc.

It's the music that was "in" when you were a teen that will always be the best, in your opinion, or so it would seem.

You and Billy would have been great friends. I see you whine very well!

A few years ago, I read something that said that in general, whatever music you listen to at age 25 is what you'll be listening to for the rest of you life. Essentially it said that's the point when most people stop developing taste for new music.

MWAHAHA! Soon you'll be one of us, cursing the "noise" that passes for music these days, standing out on the sidewalk shaking your fist at the hooligans and their damned be-boppin' ways!
😛

A lot of people will say grunge died with Nirvana. Still love it though.

yeha... i personally love Nirvana and they have to be one of my top all-time favourite bands but equating nirvana=grunge is kinda stupid to me. alice in chains was awesome and so much more 'musically advanced' or proficient or whatever than nirvana and there was tons of other awesome grundgeish bands out there like pearl jam, silverchair, bush, soundgarden, sonic youth etc.
in short, long live grundge! 😀

the thing about grunge/early alternative was it was a bried period when mainstream artists had sincerity. we haven't had that again, for the most part. even U2 are just posers now. there are some artists with sincerity, but they are few and far between.

Veggz, Tool and Radiohead are in no way mainstream dude.

Interesting fact though: Matt Groening the creator of The Simpsons went to Evergreen State College which was pretty much "Grunge University" back in the day.

tool and radiohead get radio play on Clear Channel stations and sell out arenas every time they tour. what's not mainstream about them? and when i say arena, i'm talking the same venues played by Britney Spears, Dave Matthews Band, etc.
