That's why I use the automated machines when I go, or go at a time it's not normally crowded. Or just go to Market Street - they always have a full line of checkout personnel when I'm there, no matter what time/day. Great service there.

A lot of people deal in cash with a lot of things. I sell goats. I don't care what people use for their deposit. But, when they pick up the goat, there are two forms of payment I accept: post office money order, or cold hard cash.

If someone's paying me $1000 for a couple goats, I'm not going to go and wait in line at the bank to deposit it, (not that the longest line I've ever seen at my bank was 3 people, counting me) and I'm certainly not going to use the ATM to deposit that much cash. So, when I go shopping, I just pay with cash.

they do debit cards at Costco

I think you missed my point - I'll happily pay with a debit card. But if someone stops by my barn to pick up some goats, they're going to pay me in cash. I don't have a machine in my barn to swipe cards through. So, there I am, with $1000 in cash in one pocket, a debit card in the other pocket. I go & buy $950 worth of stuff. Which do you think I'm going to use? If I use the debit card, it means an extra trip to the bank to deposit the cash.

Of course you are going to use the cash. As long as you never deposit it in a bank account there is no official record of you ever having the money and you don't have to pay any taxes on that money unless you choose to....and I do not have a problem with that at all.

Can also use it online as a credit card.

Ah, I thought you meant there was a way to choose debit and not enter a PIN. It's actually better for me to use my debit card as credit, because my credit union charges me after so many debit purchases.

hell i think I'm gonna start using them just in the hope one of you assholes is behind me and it ruins your day

No one in this thread has expressed any situations in which they purposely tried to inconvenience someone else. Doing this on purpose makes you nothing but what you call these other people.

In other words, no one in this thread has done anything disrespectful, but what you mention is nothing but disrespectful to others... so who's the asshole?

I purposely try to make my time in line quick to not inconvenience others behind me as there's no reason to make it take longer. Do you also think it's okay for people with 21 items to go through a 20 or less express lane? Do you think I'm an asshole for taking offense to it? I've had 22 items in my cart once at Wal-Mart and I spent 15 minutes more in the normal lane than I would have waited in the express lane simply because I was over the designated amount.

If I have 8 seconds to get in and out of a supermarket else my day is destroyed, I get to the supermarket earlier. I drive the same way. I let other people own the stress. It's funny to watch people get frustrated over things beyond their control. Self importance and childish impatience is amusing.

Yes, watching people squirm is fun as well as striking up conversations with random people you're waiting in line with.
