Grilling in winter- does it work?

I grill year round with a 4 burner Weber Genesis and it works fine. The temp isn't usually the issue so much as the wind. It can be cold as hell and I can get the grill up to 600 degrees in short order as long as the hood is down.

Honestly I enjoy it more in the cold because the grill keeps me a little warm like a fire pit and the cold air makes the aroma more enticing. I experience this walking by Asian restaurants in the cold too. Highly recommended!

The George Foreman alternative . . and maybe some turkey sticks for football game snacks.

Even if you do cook frozen premade burgers on an indoor electric "grill," this might not be the best place to brag about it.

Nothing wrong with cooking burgers on the Foreman. But I wouldn't use the Foreman for steaks. Indoor steaks should be cooked on a pan.

in a cast iron pan specifically, one that you heat up in the oven for 5 minutes at 500 degrees and then run over high heat for 5 minutes to get it piping hot before applying steak to it.

People do it here all the time. And it actually gets cold here. 😛

I personally don't bother, it's kinda a pain to put boots on etc each time I go to check up on it, and it would require I actually clear all the snow around the grill.
