He is totally entitled to run his business as he sees fit - so long as laws are not broken.
What I don't get, is why he has gone ape shit slinging crazed, over what another lender does/doesn't do with this debt. It is not his business. It is not his money.
fuck no i wouldn't forgive the loan. A business is to make money and keep its shareholders happy. they are happy with profit.
Sorry she died and the father has to pay the bills.
how is that the lenders problem?
Could you expound on this? I'm missing your point.
It's the typical conservative deep-down selfishness on display here, mixed with the inability to empathize. It's similar to conservatives crying that poor people have cell phones and flat screen TVs.
Are you claiming that as selfish as AoS is (supposedly), you're equally selfless but just with other people's $$?It's the typical conservative deep-down selfishness on display here, mixed with the inability to empathize. You're acting like this is some souless megabank who lent the money. The federal government muscled the banks out of the studend loan business some time ago and now have 90% or so market share. And federal student loans aren't dischargable in bankruptcy or any other way either since Uncle Sam is going to get his share and sure as hell ain't going to eat the federal guarantee just because this girl died.

Where did I go ape-shit? If the company decides to forgive the debt I think that is great. Just like if a surgeon forgives the bill for someone. My problem is the whining. "Oh, I'm a pastor and I only make $75K (TAX FREE!) and I can't afford it..." THAT is my problem.
Don't worry. When the student loan bailout happens, we'll all get to help with the students debts. You're acting like this is some souless megabank who lent the money. Do you even lift?Your OP is full of fuck this and fuck that.
You are one angry person.
And, this is not your problem. You are not the pastor, and the pastor does not owe you any money.
Tone it down dudebro.

This, exactly.obviously a shitty situation, but he cosigned on the loans and she attended school on that loaned money.
moral of the story: don't cosign on loans you aren't prepared to repay yourself.

at first i was going to blame the doctor. he prescribed FAR FAR to much. but then i remember she is a nurse.
In the 113 days before her death, Mason filled prescriptions for 240 hydrocodone tablets, 418 OxyContin tablets, and 1,692 tablets of oxycodone, the lawsuit states. Mason was taken by ambulance to the hospital from her home on Dec. 27, 2009, and was pronounced dead two days later.
holy shit..
that is a insane amount. 20ish pills a day? wow

If you can afford cell phones and flat screen tvs, you are not poor.

Can you tell me what you do for a living? How many people do you employ? How much do you pay in taxes?
I do have an issue with poor people having flat scren TVs and cell phones. I work everyday to afford what I have and it does make me a little upset when I hear for $1 a month you can get unlimited talk and text if you are poor. What does the ability to text have to do with getting a job?
The only thing deep down inside that I see, is bitterness and mouth froth spitting rage.
This story has NOTHING to do with him.
Sure, he is a lender, but,.. what does that matter? If he created a thread where he told us how he was stiffed by someone who died and the cosigner was trying to get out of it, that is different. He is venting over the pitfalls of his business.
And, he is more than entitled to treat the situation as he sees fit.
But, to throw a shit storm over a news story,... JEE-ZUS. This dude has issues.
I was venting over this asshole crying foul on CNN because he isn't taking care of his obligations.
