Grey's Anatomy: Code Black

I love Grey's Anatomy. I was never into these kind of shows, like E.R., but this show has really caught my interested. House is also really good for different reasons, but that is for another thread...

So right after the superbowl, they air the episode about the undetonated anti-tank rocket lodged inside the patient. They really do an excellent job with the scripts and acting - everyone has a very distinct personality and interaction with other people.

Why do I even bother bringing up this show? Well last night, I kept dreaming about it. This morning I was dead tired, and in my half-awake half-asleep haze, I kept thinking to myself, "I don't need to go into work yet, it is still evacuated". 😱

I saw part of it ... HTH did the guy end up with a rocket warhead in his chest? I saw some bit that indicated that it was some kind of home-made rocket?

He and his buddy were rebuilding weapons from WW2 as part of a reenactment. So they built a bazooka and anti-tank missile. During test fire, it didn't go off. So the guy was troubleshooting it while standing in front of it. It went off. The fact that a rocket was still in him was not revealed until he was already in OR, and they had to quickly evacuate that wing and wait for the bomb squad.

Give me a break, Grey's Anatomy is basically a softcore sex sitcom that throws in one of these suspense filled episodes to help justify the professional end of it.

yep

GREAT GREAT SHOW!!!!

I just hope they don't do that cliffhanger thing on every episode. To many shows do that now, and that would be stupid. If they do that, it would just be another ER.

Oh it was great. Meredith ends up trading places with the paramedic when she freaks out, pulls her hand out, and runs out of the OR. That's the end of this episode.

My ONLY problem with that episode is no decent surgeon in his right mind is going to go into emergency surgery without at the very least an X-ray...

Otherwise it was a pretty decent episode. I dont think that round would have lodged in him tho, I'd imagine at close range it'd blow right through ya

*SPOILER*

It is one of those 2-parters I guess. The ending had Grey with her hand in the dude's body in place of the other girl.

it was a pretty good episode. i usually have it on as im surfin the net or something. gf watched it for the first time last night and she loved it

The man was critical, so maybe they took the xrays, and went straight to or. that is why it shows the xrays processed later on.

Yea but it doesnt take more than 5 minutes to develop an X-ray, at the least as long as it takes for the surgeon to scrub in.

Even with a wound that large, and someone's hand stuck in it? Seemed like they had little time to go through an x-ray. I just though he was going to get the patient stabilized with her hand removed, then they could do the x-rays.

Since the bazooka misfired, it was probably a very very weak firing that was just enough to lodge it in him.

The one doc leaving ricci's character there was a douche. The story line of this episode was good up until someone said "The whole hospital coould blow up.".....sheesh, it was a homemade bazooka round. It would have taken out a hallway, tops.

The whole pink mist dialouge was fvcked up.

First time I've seen that show, I wasn't overly impressed.

It was an anti-tank missile. I'm under the impression they have bit of a kick to them.

I had said the same thing during the show, then my wife smartly pointed out that there were multiple floors to the hosipital. 😱

Do you even watch the show regularly because this evaluation couldn't be any further from the truth. The show is very well written and obviously, there is a tremendous amount of input from the medical field. Grey's is very accurate at depicting the daily life inside a busy emergency room/hospital. The story lines are great and the interactions/relationships between the staff/patients are always very "real." And I'd say that less than 5% of a typical epsiode even deals with anything sexual. Last night started out that way but it was a Super Bowl follow-up where a lot of men are watching so I'm sure it was a good way to attract a new audience.

IMO, it's one of the better shows on TV and seems far more realistic than most of the other shows running. Considering the show airs at 10pm EST, the show does solid ratings as well.

the one thing i witnessed was a HUGE ommission on their part.

on the back of the name tags of EVERY employee there, is a list of every code that they have, black, red, pink, orange etc. and they say what they do. and when the two interns were in the elevator asking "whats that" i just went, WTFBBQ even i know where to look, and i was only in an E.R. for 3 weeks just walking about doing nothing.

Not necessarily. They even made reference to the oxygen tanks that were all over that area which could have amplified the explosion a good bit. No, it likely wouldn't have leveled the entire hospital but with the types of equipment stored in those environments, the damage could have been substantial.

That wasn't intended to be accurate, it was intended to build suspense.

It was a good episode, IMO, and I was worried they were going to get all ER on us.

How many episodes have you watched ? It has very little softcore sex if at all during episodes. Maybe 1 scene every 3-5 episodes where someone is even in their underwear.

It is a relationship/personality show with light comedy. The best reason to watch it is because of the writing. The narrative at the beginning always ties in at the end with a good story between multiple characters and that's what's clever about it. Not sex. Last night's "everyone's watching" episode was to draw new viewers and it really felt out of place. Grey's Anatomy even claims to leave the "emergency drama" to ER.

Regardless, to call it just a softcore sex show would be missing the mark by about 80%.

I saw it last night for the first time... I thought it was pretty good. My friends keep trying to get me into 24 (they swear by that movie, totally addicted) so I've seen a few episodes of season 3, but I enjoyed Grey's Anatomy a lot more than 24. (side note: what is with all the fuss over 24, it really isn't that good)
