Four transfers? Good luck making each one! I hope you have a lot of time in-between each as with every transfer you have an increased chance of something going terribly wrong and delaying your trip.

the first 3 are all on the first day, the next one is in Toronto then it is the same bus for the next day and a half or so.

Ifi plane and train are "about the same price" I highly recommend springing for some extra cash and buying a damn plane ticket. It will be faster, cleaner, and simply more enjoyable. Not sure why I would pay $x to travel in a cramped bus for 2.5 days when I could spend $x + some extra to get there in under eight hours

I went from cincinnati to north carolina a couple years ago. I had to pick my buddies car up from the fort bragg after he got deployed. Took 17 hours and quite a few transfers. The transfers were pretty quick and painless. I didn't think it was that bad. I'd do it again.

Wait what?

$220 each way can't be much less than flying. I guess prices have gone up recently but last I checked it wasn't that hard to get round trip tickets for under $400. And you don't have to spend five days on a fucking bus.

WTF?

as an example i checked NYC to fort collins. $200 by greyhound or $250 if i fly.

spend 2 days on the bus to save $50? you will spend that much on food and crap to keep you busy during the trip.

$220 total, $110 each way. If you guys can find a cheaper way to Regina SK, then by all means help me out.

I went from Madison, WI to Chattanooga, TN and back via Greyhound. The trip down was great, no problems. The trip home sucked dogs' balls. Freaking half the passengers were smoking. The Chicago=>Gary stretch was fascinating in a fuzzybabybunny kind of way. The bus doubles as local commuter bus for that stretch so one got to stop at Cabrini Green, Old Town, and a bunch of other public housing hellholes (since torn down).

Every single damn time I took a greyhound, there was some jackass with the flu that couldn't be bothered to cover their mouth when they cough.

New York to my city at about 13 hours. We had one or two rest stops in the middle of the night. One was at some place in the middle of nowhere with a Dunkin Donuts staffed by an obese lady with stained shirt.

Second time was a 9 hour-ish ride from Montreal to Ottawa to my city. Had to switch buses in Ottawa, which was an annoying 2 hour stop. Nothing to do, walked around the block at 12am.

Shit, I grew up close to there, and you would have to pay me big bucks to go back. What has transpired in your life to have you go there for a summer vacation?

Not only will you want to kill yourself on the bus ride, it won't be any better once you get there.

Will post pics of her when i get there tho 😀

So this is 2.5 days of non-stop riding in a bus (except for transfer time)?

Holy crap - that sounds completely miserable.

I like the bus. Stuff to see outside the windows, and interesting people on board. I'd prefer a train, but would take a bus if it was substantially cheaper.

Before I could afford to fly I took Greyhound from TX to CA and back several times to visit family. It's certainly not an enjoyable trip but you do what you got to do. There's some crazy passengers but I think the breakdowns are probably the worst part. It usually means they find somewhere to park and you're stuck there for upwards of 6 hours waiting for a replacement bus to show up. Completely screws up any connections you were trying to make.

Btw, pack a travel pillow.

Train is stupidly expensive in this country (others too?).

Going to Montreal, it was $150-ish for econo seats. Taking the bus, though twice as long, was only $30 if booked over a month ahead of time.

I took a Greyhound (a bus) from Vancouver to Winnipeg when I was a teenager. I was sitting next to a hot girl who was coming on to me and I was feeling good, then I realized she was on the bus with her boyfriend and was probably trying to rob me or something. Good times.
