Greyhound

What is the longest anyone has been on a bus before? I just bought tickets for this summer, the trip is going to be 2 1/2 days on the bus (eachway), on a scale of 1-10 how much will i want to kill myself by the end of the trip?

you will want to kill yourself about an hour into the trip, though much of it depends on the others on the bus with you

try to sit as far away from the restroom as possible

The back of the bus will be a combined day care center, foreign language only zone and clandestine drug usage area. In the event that you have to go to the toilet, be prepared to run the gauntlet of hostile stares and immobile passengers. When you finally get in you'll wish you hadn't bothered.

I had a great experience on Greyhound, but it was a greyhound express -

$9 each way, nonstop (NY -> DC). About 3.5 hours. Guaranteed seating.

The thing that I read on normal (ie non express) Greyhound busses that scares the shit out of me is...NONGUARANTEED SEATS.

yeah it was $220 for this trip about 2000 miles each way. It's gonna suck I can already tell.

Bring prescription drugs and lots of music?

Do they at least have chargers? (they did on GH Express)

they are supposed to have outlets yeah, but part of the trip is going to be through canada so im not sure if the buses are the same standards.

WTF is wrong with you?

about 3 hrs
Saratoga Springs NY to Newark NJ airport
well it was one bus down to penn station or grand central station in NYC , then a charter airport bus out to newark

it was late at night
it wasn't horrible but i can't say it is something i'd like to do again either

2.5 days? w0w , but with today's technology, laptop or tablet or at least mp3 player and maybe some books/kindle books, What could possibly go wrong?

yeah I am bringing my iphone and laptop. The killer is gonna be the 12:30 AM transfer in Toronto, luckily that is the last transfer (total of 4)

dude, you know what would be pretty awesome would be if you take some pictures and maybe keep like a mini-journal of the trip and post it back here in the thread afterwards, that'd be sweet

I went from North Carolina to Florida when I was 18, that was almost 17 years ago and it was bad. I can only image how fucking horrible it is nowadays.

Can you sell some shit or help people with computer work/ tutor/ prostitution? Is there a train available instead?

GL 🙁

alternative is looking like $350+ each way instead of $110, train and plane are about the same in price.

The only people who take buses nowadays are people not allowed on planes, if that gives a hint at how awesome it would be. It's almost always cheaper to fly.

I plan on doing just that, a chronicling of my journey.
