I am currently in Fallujah and travel all around the AO. I have been in for 24 years and look forward to retireing.....

Just a quick update while I am able to log on. It seems that the summer months have arrived, the temperature is reaching 111. For the fellow service members that have been here, you know the feeling. So hot, but the mission comes first. The service members continue to do an excellent job day in and day out without question.
It seems that some of the bases here will be visited by a few cheerleaders, yeah!!!I would much rather have a cold beer and a large steak!!! We have received several care packages that we hand out to the service members, mailcall is the highlight of every day.

I mention service members for a reason, we are all in this together and work side by side, even in my small section I have all four services. Thanks for the support!!!!!

LOL Anbar in the summer. Great place. If you get a chance or lose all common sense go swimming in the lakes. 😛

Stay safe and if you made 24, you can make 30.

Without getting political, I'm sorry that your duty has taken you to such a shithole.
(I did my time in Vietnam...1970-73)
My son did 2 tours in Iraq/Kuwait before he got out. (his HMH squadron was in the first wave to go in back in 2003)

Stay safe, stop in to say hello when you can. (I wish we'd have had this kind of technology when I was in.)

Hello everyone.

Well for the second day running I have managed to log onto the forums, guess I am kinda lucky, hopefully it will last. It's another hot day here in Fallujah, today it's going to be a brisk 113 degrees.

Well I choked twice reading this one, swimming in the lakes, thats a nice touch, perhaps I will start a swimming team!!! I dont think 30 years are in the cards for me, third time back here and I have had my fill. I still have eight months to go so I have plenty of time to think about things.

I think the record during my tour was 131 degrees in the shade. It was during August. I think it was even hotter on the tarmac. To be honest, I wouldn't want to return there if given the choice, but I'd like to see Afghanistan before I get out of the Army.

I'm in the Guard, now. Just hit my 20 years and wondering if I just gut it out for 26 or even 30.

I was here last November way out in Anbar AO, we seen the Temp reach 132 at times and that is no joke. We didn't have any shade just vast baren desert. Day in and day out the Marine in our unit accomplished the task at hand no matter how hot it was, in full gear, with combat load. How did we cool down, drink plenty of water, rest when we have the chance. The vehciles have very strong AC units as we all know, problem is we do not stay in the vehicles all of the time. It takes some time getting used the the conditions and you will lose alot of weight, but in the end it's about Mission Accomplishment and the guy on your right and left.....
