I could name tons 😀

Do you visit the PRP much?

I think Taproot might have something good with the new cd based off the first single. But nothing will ever top Gift.

Every few days 😀 PRP is an good place for metal news.

Gift was an awesome album, but I really liked their latest. The new one is sounding REALLY good. There's a few leaks on YouTube if you search for the Taproot channel. It's more heavy like Gift was.

Hanoi Rocks.....biggest claim to fame was their drummer Razzle was killed in a car wreck
with Vince Neil of Motley Crue.

The music rocked!!!!

The Ramones. They're popular but were never really that successful.

Most people who claim to like the Ramones don't really listen to the Ramones much.

Michael Stanley Band

Very successful in Northeastern Ohio - not so much anywhere else.
I just heard "Let's Get the Show on the Road" the other day on the radio. It's one of his songs you don't hear on the radio very often, at least i hardly ever hear it.

Does it count if they weren't popular before dying?

Sublime

erummmmm

they were pretty damn popular before they died

I'd never heard of them until "What I Got" hit the radio, and Brad died weeks before they even released that album. They never even went gold with any album (500k sales) before he died. http://www.riaa.com/goldandpla...sort=Artist&perPage=50

Only well after he died they went multiplatinum or gold on all of their albums. Maybe they were popular with the dub or college circuit, but def not nationally known.

Sublime

That would include Hendrix....His only hit while he was alive was "All Around the Watchtower" and was a Bob Dylan cover.

The thread title says "unsuccessful".
Sublime was definitely unsuccessful before he died.

Well... I guess that depends on how you gauge success.
What are your expectations? 🙂
