My sister helps out with the GD rescue program. She has three now. They're cool dogs but still too big IMO. I have three kids and GD's seem to think they're ankle biters instead of horses, so they like to get physical which scares the kids.
 
My family has had several Great Danes. I currently have a 12 year old in my pack of 5 dogs. Gunner has been through a lot, including gastric torsion surgery and severe food allergies. He's getting up there in age but he still gets around pretty well. The pics are from when he was younger able to play 'rope' with Artemis. FYI - Artemis could have kicked his ass any day of the week. She's the toughest little dog I've ever had.

My parents had 3 while I was growing up. Fun dogs to visit but living with them daily gets kind of old. Lots drool, lots of 150+++lbs of dog stepping on your foot, lots of getting hit by huge tail that feels like a baseball bat, lots of drool, lots of dog standing in front of the tv at the worst times, and lots of stupid. They ain't too smart 🙂.
 
We have a Harlequin, he's teh craziest dane I've ever met. Very protective, we adopted him a year and a half ago when he was 2.5 years old. He has a very high energy level, and is basically a PITA. But I love him. We also have a 40lb mutt(part chow), a yorkie, and a black cat. pretty full house.

I'll try to dig up some pics tonight, otherwise when I finally buy my digicam in the next few weeks I'll snap some then.
 
Only ever seen a great dane maybe once or twice in real life.
Saw one walking through a park, thought at first it was a deer. Huge!

Does that one white eye mean it's blind in that eye?

Those two little girls sure are cute! Twins? Look like nice people, full of life, happy.

 
Had a wonderful Great Dane when we were younger. Goddamn natives fed her ground glass they were so scared of her bark :|

She doesn't appear to be blind or deaf. Deafness is a risk in blue eyed danes with white faces.

Yeah, the twins are my sisters. 🙂

I have a much more badass picture that a friend of mine took of him and my chow mix, Sirius, sitting on a couch quiet one second, and trying to bite each others faces off the next. But I dont have a digital copy, I'll see if he still has it (probably not)

Shadow, the dane, was a resuce we got about a year and a half ago, he had some agression issues, which is atypical for a dane, but we've gotten him over them for the most part, we're still careful introducing him to people though. He's a big stupid sweetheart around us.

No, he hears better than he should. He's a harlequin, he's got a black patch at the top of his head near his ears and a few more on his belly.

He's got one blue and one green eye. We rescued him, which is why his ears are cropped, otherwise they would be silly floppy ears.

Yeah, I love the big drooping ears on danes. I heard they're probably going to ban cropping for show dogs, and they'll likely start to breed danes with slightly shorter ears, like the English danes. Up til now they've bred them as long as possible to make for good cropping.
