Graphics dont drive emotion. Story, characters, music, and classic tragedy do.
Truly great writing, character development, and story have a long way to go in gaming.
The thing I really hate about most games is that they try to be "epic" all the time. Stories are about saving the world and the entire universe being at risk. It's like AAA game developers all started worshiping Michael Bay or something......which is enough to make anyone into good storytelling vomit.
That is so boring to me......it's the human story that is interesting. I want some characters that I actually care about. Dialog that wasn't written to entertain a backwards-hat wearing, Doritos eating adolescent.
That all said, I'm also a huge fan of graphic fidelity and using environmental art to drive immersion. I don't think great art direction, graphic quality, gameplay, and story have to be mutually exclusive traits. God bless the developer who actually cares enough to put them all together with equal focus.
Poor guy. Spending should absolutely go in the following order: music > main PC gear (for a gaming rig) > audio playback gear (for the PC) > other PC peripherals. Also, if you haven't been bitten by some of the bad Ozzy and Black Sabbath remasters, or clipping and compression BS David Bowie has done to his old stuff in re-releases, I don't want to know you.
He has a lot invested in graphics, so he defends it. Crysis 3 looked real good for the first 20 minutes, but quickly became borring and I haven't had a desire to play again since. I will not finish the game and I am not even half way through, but it does look great though. So IMO, even if graphics really are 60% of the game, you still need the other 40% for crying out loud (something they missed on this one).
The guns look, sound, and feel great as far as a game is concerned. The bow is real fun. I thought it was a decent shooter.

No offense, but for a person who finished 200 PS3 games, I'm not sure you are the right person to ask about how a game isI get the impression you aren't that hard to impress and don't get bored easy
. I didn't know there were 200 PS3 games worth playing, let alone finish
My problem with the Crysis games has always been that, they are fun to look at..but that's about it. Everything else in them is..standard. I've tried to like them...but meh.
