Gran Turismo 4 slips to "winter" in Japan...

a friend of ours got the chinese version of the game and we've been playing it on our modded ps2 for the past week. it rocks. we got one of those logitec steering wheels with gas and brake peddles specifically for this game. it reallly adds to the experience.

Or maybe they are pulling an EA and working the programmers 16 hour days 6 days a week ....causing the programmers to screw up everything before the release because they can't sleep.

I doubt it. Sony wants this game to come out, and they know that an extra 6 month delay should be worth it. GT4 will sell like crazy IRREGARDLESS of its release date. HEll they could release it now and I still bet by Xmas 2005 it'll be one of the top selling holiday games out there ANYWAYS.

I think Sony has a LOT more to lose if GT4 does not meet expectations than it does by pissing off fans and having a game that gets delayed for another six months to a year.

That and I would tihnk Polyphony Digital is one of Sony's treasured gems. I mean it really launched the PSX to the top when it came to racing games~ And GT3 proved a VERY VALUABLE title to show off the Ps2's capabilities and garner sales in a time when not much was coming out because dev kits weren't fully mature yet. I'm sure they work like crazy~ I remember reading a GT3 review they stated that in the first they spent about 3 days modeling each car, whereas in GT3 they were spending anywhere near one and half to two weeks.

As for damage...maybe GT5~ I mean how are you going to get a car manufactorer to say "sure, turn our crash into a crumple of aluminum"- I bet Sony probably makes as much on getting car developers onboard to "Showcase" their cars as much and they will make on sales from the game

Though you might be able to get away with a "soft" mod that plugs into the memory card slot...

you may not be able to play GT4 is you have a modded PS2. Depending on which version PS2 you have and the type of mod you do.
