I was so disappointed. As much as Norah deserves to win....I think she won too much. None of the other nominees even had a chance.

Anyone else think that John Mayer deserved the best new artist more than Norah?

In between noddin out I caught the Dixie Chicks murder Stevie Nicks Great Song Landslide. Man they really butchered it up. I also caught John Mayers performance. What makes him so Special? He sounded like just another Musician playing on a Street Corner to me. Norah Jones was good but nothing extrordanary. I did like her humility though which is very refreshing. The same could be said for John Mayer but it his case humility is well deserved. My over all impression is that the reason the Record Sales are down is because so much of the music being featured today is mediocre at best.

Norah Jones is excellent, but not everyone's going to like her kind of music. Who cares if she didn't write the songs. Most of country music is done that way.

Best parts of the Grammies (IMHO):
#1 - Simon & Garfunkel
#2 - London Calling jam
#3 - Norah Jones
#4 - NY Philharmonic
#5 - James Taylor

Best humorous parts
#1 - Bruce Springstreet
#2 - Seeing Bruce read a teleprompter
#3 - Sheryl Crow's hair partially covering her No War guitar strap (which then read "War").

All in beautiful HDTV!!

 
I just heard from a co-worker that Noraj Jones' father is Ravi Shankar, the indian sitar maestro. She is his illegitimate child apparently and never married her mother.

I've been trying to find info online about it, but amazingly websites only mention her mother, nothing about her father.

If there was an award for best live performer, I'd give it to Mayer... he's just amazing on stage
...also, anyone catch that music video with Norah and JM doing a medley? awesome stuff

it's pretty sad actually...i'd say some of the american idol singers can sing better (live that is) than singers like vanessa carlton, norah jones, etc...
