well, I went to see my cousin and his girl graduate. Problem is I couldn;t get in to the main gym. It seems that HS graduations are ALWAYS a mess. Basically, I was turned away, and told to go to the schools auditorium...to WATCH IT ON A FVKING SCREEN:| Not a big deal, but pretty damn disappointing.

Talk about half-assed thinking on the part of the school I basically had to stand for two hours and when they called his name, cheering was pointless:( I never even got to see him until WAY after. ). Even worse was the fact that women and child ren had to stand too:(

Honestly, I am making a big deal out of nothing, and accept it. I really wasn't peeved at all except for the headache of having to stand for two hours in a ridiculously crowded room and not even getting to congradulate my cousin until almsot 2 hours after it was over. I kept on telling myself that it was worth it.....until I began to run into the parents of seniors. YEs.....PARENTS OF THOSE GRADUATING.

I am serious. I must have seen a dozen parents and a BUNCH of family members that had tickets to get into the main auditorium where the "action" and were not let in due to overcrowding.

My "2 hour stand" was not exactly "pleasurable" but damn....keeping your PARENTS out of your fvking graduation..that is just inexcusable. C'mon, ruin the one day that the parents have to reap the rewards of their childs abilities and their own parental skills.

Sad thing is, my HS graduation 3 years ago wasn;t much better....

Is ther some secret ploy to totally RUIN graduations for a percentage of families?!

Personally, I find graduations the most boring events. I hated my high school graduation and didn't go to my university's either. I don't care about your pointless cliche filled graduation speech.

damn, graduations held inside the school? We would have been uberfvcked...ours are held at a venue downtown, with more than enough seating, and a good view for everyone.

Sorry to hear about your experience...I would've been more pissed than you are.

The parents of the graduate should have been allowed in the gym.

I recently attended my friend's college graduation, where the entire family could attend, and it was just crazy... parking... the crowd... screaming kids... totally chaotic!

I recently graduated from UCLA, and was only given 4 tickets for the attendees. It was much better.

my class was 1200 too, and we were the small school. Plano (the other school) had the biggest class that year in all of Texas. graduation was a pain....

Class of ~500 people; held at the Hofheinz Pavilion at the University of Houston. More than enough room for spectators, and our faces on large screens above us.

My kids school has fistfights and stuff because the few good seats get taken days before the event (yes, days. seriously.) What makes this hilarious is that it's one of those "elite" schools that gets in all the "top 20 schools in the country" lists and the parents are these fancy lawyer/doctor/investment banker types - cool to see them fight.

They hold the thing outdoors and there is PLENTY of seating that isn't right directly in front of everything, but everybody wants those few seats.

One of the schools I volunteer at had a graduation but not very many people came, they went out on the street and asked for volunteers to come celebrate for the kids - they had free food and stuff, paid for by your tax dollars and mine. No wonder some schools stink if most of the parents won't even show up for the kid's graduation and free food and gifts.

Wow, that's a small school. My graduating class was 30. And twenty-odd years later I can still name every one, in alphabetical order.

My graduation was awful. From cal state long beach. There was only enough bleachers for like 1k people when 7k showed up. When everyone went up to get their diploma alot didnt go back to their seats, they went and celebrated with their families or whatever. So it was just a whole morass of half sitting graduates and empty seats and people clogging up the sides hugging their families. All the while peoples names were still being read.. godawful
