I am looking for alot of help here guys, give me alot of advice but this is what I have come up with now for a pretty good computer I think.

Case and Power Supply: $89.99 newegg.com

Thermaltake Soprano VB1430BWS Black Steel/Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 430W Power Supply - Retail

I liked this case because I have heard they make great PSU and since the other cases I looked, I would have to buy a PSU this made my sence to me.

MotherBoard: $146 newegg.com

MSI K8N Neo4/SLI Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail

I went with this board because it MSI quality and its SLI can be used for the future. I know alot might tell me to get DFI, tell me why though? thanks

Graphic card: $172 newegg.com

MSI NX6600GT-TD128E Geforce 6600GT 128MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail

Best card for the money and with the SLI board I can upgrade and get another in future.

CPU: $147 newegg.com

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice Integrated into Chip FSB Socket 939 Processor Model ADA3000BPBOX - Retail

Seems to be a very highly recommeded CPU.

Memory: $79.99 newegg.com

CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model VS1GBKIT400 - Retail

HardDrive: $88.00 newegg.com

Western Digital Caviar SE WD1200JD 120GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive - OEM

I might be able to find a hard drive cheaper some where else with a nice rebate but this is what I found to work with my budget so far.

CDRW/DVDRW: $45.99 newegg.com

NEC Black IDE DVD Burner Model ND-3520A BK - OEM

Total $768

Ok guys and girls, I need a monitor, something that will be good for gaming but nothing that will break the bank. What should I look for when looking for a monitor anyway?? Will this system be a good system to spend money on. I am on a budget and keeping it below $900 would be great. Not much in to OCing yet but maybe one day.

Thanks

no i wouldnt use that power supply for an sli board. leaves you no extra power for future upgrades.i would get a minimum of 550 i think enermax makes one sli certified. msi might even require at least 450 watts but have to check with msi on that. i also dont like value select memory but thats just me. i would definately look into a better power supply getting the minimum is dangerous.

I'm partial to the sammie, but I've owned them both. The seagate has the best warranty although I've NEVER had to use a HD warranty.

well i thought that Thermaltake would make a good power supply, why do they even sell power supplies with cases if you have to buy one later. I knew about Antec and how great they are. thanks for the help. I like this case but I knew there would be problem with the power supply since everybody says Antec is the best. I will take alook back and see how i can get an Antec psu and maybe another case for about the same price.

How about not doing the SLI set up and go with this motherboard, I should not do the SLI mother board and save a little money since this a budget computer:

MSI K8N Neo4-F Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail $88

or

CHAINTECH VNF4/Ultra Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail $92

I am guess the PSU will still not be the best choice.

How about the XION II case, with another PSU?

How is the cooling on the Thermaltake case, there seems not to be an open space in the front??? does anybody know??

no, those aren't great. the only great one is the antec, the rest are CRAP. don't spread crap about stuff you don't know. i'm beginning to hate you and your noobness.

No need for the derogatory comments. You can say what you said in a lot nicer way next time.

Setup looks nice. Are you planning to Overclock?

Moniter:
Look for a 17" or 19" CRT, preferably flat. Make sure it can refresh at atleast 75Hz at 1024x768, and preferably at 1600x1200 aswell. Look for a dot pitch of 0.28mm or less.

PSU:
Also, that Tt PSU is enough for your system, but it *could* limit your upgrade potential in the future. If you do buy a new one, ignore all the people who say you need a 500W minimum. It's nice to have, but it's definately not needed. You might actually want to keep that PSU for now, and just upgrade later if you need to.

EDIT: Keep the power supply. I just looked at it's specs: http://www.thermaltake.com/purepower/w005152/w005152atx12v.htm
It has dual +12V rails, with a total of 33A. It also has a 120mm fan for cooling. It's better than my Antec.

Thanks Rod, I will take a look for a monitor with those specs. I am not planning on OCing, I just want some a computer that is stable and preforms well for a year or two. But if i get the SLI board I will not be getting the other graphic card for a while.

I think that the PSU will work just fine from Thermaltake, everybody wants Antec. I know they are very good and it seems everybody uses them, but there must be another good company out there that makes PSU's.

I think i will go with the MSI board NON SLI, to save money for now.

There are several. My order of preference:

Zippy/emacs (PCP&C)
Seasonic
FSP Group (Sparkle, Fortron, et al)
Topower (OCZ, E-Power)
TTGI
Maxpoint (Enermax)
Channel Well Technology (Antec)

I forget who TT PSUs are manufactured by.. High-something, I think. Not the best, but they're not the worst either. You'll probably be fine with it, but if it breaks on you I didn't say that :p

Most PSUs are overrated (not as in people think too much of them, as in they're rated for too much on the label), and TT products are well-known for having exaggerated specifications.

The Leadtek 6600GT was given a higher reccomendation than the MSI brand 6600GT by Anandtech's 6600GT comparision guide. And it's cheaper, too.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814122201

No, you dont want SLI. It's a waste of money.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813130491

and yeah, take a look at more reliable cases and PSUs. the case isnt hugely important, but the PSU is. A bad power supply can fry your parts.

Everything else looks great. this a budget gaming system?

well looking back at the link to the thermaltake website and looking more carefully, I dont think that is the PSU that is sold with the case. I see that the P/N number on the PSU that is pictured on newegg.com says W0066. And the link that you sent Rod the P/N number is W0052 or W0051. Plus I looked around the Thermaltake website and I dont see a P/N W0066 anywhere.

I like the Thermaltake case and if the power supply is good then it seems like a great buy. But if not I will keep looking for a cheaper case that cools well and buy a PSU seperatly.

This is a bugget gaming system. Also if I remember right, the Leadtek 6600GT that was review on this website was the card that was OCed from the factor. But I think he review the other one as well. Also, so I dont need to waste my money on SLI MOBO?? SO then I am back to looking for a MOBO then.

I liked the XION II case as well. But I am sure I would have to buy another PSU with that case.

If I dont get the SLI board, how many watts do I need??

Go DFI for teh OC.

You may as well get the newer version of the NEC-------3540A.

And I would get a Seagate hard drive, they are quieter and honestly more reliable.

Get a Antec Sonata, it is quiet and comes with a quality Antec 380w PSU - $89.99 at newegg.

i would get non sli ur not gonna sli two 6600gt's when you can just buy a 6800gt and have better performance from one card.
