Got the laptop yesterday, did a fresh install, installed drivers, etc... I restored some steam backups I had made (TF2 and Black Ops), and played LOTRO in DX11.

This thing...dear Lord. First of all, my wife told me that wasn't a laptop, it was a monster that would eat her old Dell 600m laptop for a midnight snack. Secondly, I'm pretty sure this thing performs as well, if not better, than my desktop did. I've had everything maxed so far except AA on each of the games I've played and they've been flawless. Now I have to tweak AA settings to see what I can get out of it.

Overall, these machines are beasts, and games look great on that screen. It's kept really cool and it is actually super quiet.

New Vegas and Dirt are up next to test out, but thus far, I'm very happy with this purchase. The seller was very honest and the thing was in basically perfect condition.

The ONLY thing I dislike is the damn touchpad left and right mouse buttons...that thing sucks. Good thing I mainly use a mouse 🙂

That was a steal for a grand. Yeah that mobile 5870 is a upgrade over the 9800gt. Probably not by a whole lot but for a laptop that's great. How's the screen? A premium screen makes all the difference in the world on a high end laptop. Congrats.

The screen is amazing. It's a gloss finish, not matte, so it shows a great picture quality. The colors are contrasted pretty well, although playing Amnesia shows that some of the blacks can be lacking. Overall, it looks amazing, and it even doesn't have too much of a glare.

The actual size of the keyboard area is nice too. I tend to have it on my lap in a chair while in the living room, and I can actually put my mousepad and mouse on the right of the keyboard while using the usual FPS wasd layout on the left. This thing is pretty much perfect in my book.
