I knew there had to be a bigger payoff for the brothers Koch in all this mess. Buried in the union busting bill is a provision giving authority for Wisconsin to sell off publicly owned power plants in no-bid contracts at whatever price the state determines and to whomever they want

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0211/50066.html

The headline in this article reads Koch Industries say they won't gain from this deal. I've got two words to say to this, "bullshit" The key phrase is "Koch Industries". If not an outright lie it will be one of their many subsidiaries or a company working directly with Koch.

Funny how some people in other posts tried to downplay the Koch connection. Turns out the Koch Bros are the ring leaders of this circus, Walker and the GOP and the trained monkeys jumping through the flaming hoops. The union workers will be left breaking down the tents and cleaning up the shit after the show.

Uh, this is a rehash of the same bs trotted out at the beginning of this lib tantrum. There is nothing tying them to any deal or any proof that they are going to gain anything. But don't let all that get in the way of a good conspiracy theory...

This is clearly a scandal for it to be in the bill at all - a completely corrupt provision that allows for screwing the citizen to do political favors for some industry friends.

There is no reason at all to allow for this to be a no-bid process; it smacks of the old Russian selling off of state assets on the cheap to a corrupt new class of people.

It's also like the Republicans' Medicare Part D - a bill containing a sentence blocking the government from negotiating prices which was there for no reason but to give a windfall profit to their #1 donor industry, big pharma.

A bill passed in the middle of the night, with unprecedented parliamentary maneuvers.

This bill has this buried provision that allows for corrupt profit for political favors, passed in the middle of the night, with unprecedented parliamentary maneuvers.

There's plenty more evidence that Soros runs the Democratic party... but hey... the whole moral self-justification of the left thing... well you know.

Deflect! Deflect! The other side does it!

You guys are seriously weaksauce and predictable, you know this hopefully.

Here, have some vapo rub so you and Beck can cry over losing WW2 to liberals thus letting Soros and the evil jew media take control for the evil communist empire some more. This ones on me comrade.

Leftwing fapping.

A lesser-known provision of Wisconsin’s budget-repair bill would allow the state to sell off publicly owned power plants in no-bid deals – prompting a flurry of speculation by liberal bloggers who allege that Gov. Scott Walker is attempting a giveaway to energy conglomerate Koch Industries.

Your title "Gov. Walker to hand out state assests in no-bid contracts" is wrong. Please correct it.

Also, why is the governor giving businesses tax breaks up to $67m when the state is in a deficit?

Do you have details on the tax breaks? State and local governments often do this to bring jobs and additional revenue to their areas. They usually get back more than they "giveaway" in tax breaks.

Because companies like Harley Davidson have threatened to leave the state. Businesses pay taxes and employ people. I know this is difficult for libs to understand who think jobs come from Government.

Nevermind, I found it.

Law gives tax break for new jobs; Walker still pushes for stronger wind turbine location standards

Gov. Scott Walker will sign a bill today (Feb. 4) to give Wisconsin businesses a tax break for every new job they create.

The Republican majority in the Legislature approved the deductions, which are part of the governor’s agenda for boosting the economy.

Companies would get a tax reduction of $92 to $316 for every job they create, depending on their size and tax brackets.

Democrats say the tax breaks are not big enough to encourage employers to add jobs, and the tax break will add $67 million to the state’s budget deficit over the next two years.

Walker will sign the measure at noon in a ceremony at the Saris Cycling Group in Madison. Saris makes bike racks.

LOL, silly democrat logic. If tax breaks are not big enough to encourage employers to add jobs, then they don't create the jobs and don't get the tax breaks and it doesn't add $67 million to the state’s budget deficit over the next two years

Empty threats and bills with loopholes large enough for a Southerner to fit through. Yeah, looks like businesses got their money's worth.

Public union employees in Wisconsin pay exactly $0 for their guaranteed retirement. I wonder how much businesses pay in taxes? I'm guessing more than 0. But yes, the businesses are corrupt but union members are not.

Really? Union members give money to Democrats. Democrats had the majority in Wisconsin for MANY of the past 50 years. Democrats in turn vote for higher pay and benefits for union members. Rinse & Repeat.

In what other business are employees allowed to pick their boss then get kickbacks from the boss when the boss gets his job?

Your comment is absurd.

Generalizing that all union members are democratic voters is stupid.

I don't have a union boss standing over my shoulder in the voting booth. Reality isn't so black and white.

Not according to this article: http://www.tax.com/taxcom/taxblog.nsf/Permalink/UBEN-8EDJYS?OpenDocument

It's a long read; he spends a lot of time blasting the media for failing to check their facts. It says that according to the language in the employees' contract (as opposed to Walker's repeated assertions), their retirement contributions are tax-deferred employee compensation, i.e., part of their salaries. Thus, when Walker says employees need to "pay more" he is actually talking about cutting compensation.

I'll help you figure it out.

Some jobs will be created regardless of incentives. The companies will be rewarded for this. Free money for what they would do anyway. Some companies may even scam the system and close a production line in one facility, open it in another and hire new people, claiming to create new jobs and ask for the money. Many believe small incentives create no new jobs of any significant number and it just becomes a giveaway.

Funny how people here argue that companies like HD can bargain for tax breaks and incentives from the government, but regular people should not be able to.

They don't need to be standing there because they KNOW you will pull the lever for the Democrat. Why? Because Democrats will 'reward' you for your loyalty. What's absurd is that you think this isn't corruption.

Again, I ask, in what non-government business are employees allowed to pick their own boss who then agrees to increase the pay and benefits of said employees as a 'thank you'.

But yes, generalizing that all union employees are Democrats was stupid. I should rephrase. NOT all union employees are Democrats, but ALL union money, even from those who disagree with it, is funneled to cortrupt Democrat politicians who will do whatever the union wants.

thank you for rephrasing. I don't agree with you but you are entitled to that position.

Like someone else said earlier, people forget that those Wisconsin union members are going to get their lives turned upside down..and these are normal, middle class Americans who pay taxes and spend their money in this economy.

they are not corrupted "mafia" bosses. The bosses, whether they are Corporate bosses or union bosses, will not feel the pinch that the members and our economies will feel.

That's such a dumb argument. First of all, public employees get to vote on their boss whether they're union members or not. Trying to tie this to unions is gratuitous union-bashing, nothing more. Further, public employees are a small minority of the people voting for governor in a state. They don't get to pick their boss.

As far as who else does it, any company that offers an employee stock plan, for example. As owners in their company, they can vote just like any other shareholder. That means they get to help pick their own bosses, just like public employees.
