Rick Perry has the look. I'll give him that. I can picture him actually being president. Whether or not he'd do a good job is another story.

But out of all the candidates, he looks most presidential.
Yeah I think America has learned it's lesson about electing Texans for President.

The people of the state of Texas were told that if we passed the law, our health insurance rates would go down - we were lied to.

tbh, the only way you can really see an affect is through a difference in differences study. it's not sufficient to watch what happens in texas by itself. 'it'll go up slower than other places' isn't as easy a sound bite though.

How about staying neutral on the issue?

The people of the state of Texas were told that if we passed the law, our health insurance rates would go down - we were lied to.

I had recently moved, and was not registered in my new county. I was going to vote "No" on the issue, but was unable to do so.

How can you stay neutral? You either sign the bill or you don't. You are for or against.

Considering your political views, I'm not surprised you believed rates would go down. If anything, it'll slow the growth of the rate increases. Tort is a small fraction of health costs. Everyone knows this.

Ask ShawnD1 if you can use the alternate universe machine he invented - see if the law never passed what the rate would be.

My take on it is that even if frivolous malpractice suits were banned altogether, the doctors would still be practicing defensive medicine because that's what the malpractice insurance companies would require of them. That and there's no financial disincentive for them to ordering unnecessary tests.

The average 3% increase every year, for the past 25 years of my working career is proof enough.

Before and after the insurance cap law was passed, the insurance rates went up about the same amount every year.

that's not how a difference in differences study is conducted.

I see nothing wrong with what Gov Perry is doing, and I don't have a problem with AFA even though I'm not a religious nut like they appear to be. They are entitled to their opinion like anyone else.

Agreed.

I see no cause for outrage.

404 - issue not found.

Perry appealing to his base. Is that somehow surprising or somehow weird?

It's neither surprising nor weird, but it is sad that politicians have to appeal so much to their respective idiotic fringes in order to win primaries.

Why do those who claim that they want a smaller Government, in turn
want that smaller Government to tell you what to do and how to live ?

Any group that gets the ire of CAIR going is a group I can support. Fuck CAIR.
