I dunno, maybe they test for it because it's FUCKING ILLEGAL you moron!

It's fucking illegal here too dumbass .

We still don't test for it because guess what? Unless you're actually high on the job (which would be obvious to your coworkers), it doesn't impact how you perform your duties.

More to the point, draconian drug laws are retarded. Apparently you aren't aware of the concept of unjust laws. Let people have their freedom, within reason, especially with something like marijuana, which is less harmful than legal drugs like alcohol.

Here in Vancouver (where marijuana is illegal), you can openly smoke in front of the Art Gallery, under police supervision. However, if you were to be drinking alcohol in the same location, they would ask you to pour it out, and they might fine you.

depends on what he's actually doing.

i work with production servers ... and if anything happens to them, the company loses money. i was tested before i was hired .. and if anything gets fucked up... people lose their job.

LOL...read the OP. He's going to be hired at Office Depot, fixing computers. If he fucks up and static-shocks a mobo, for example, I'm sure he'll have to pay for a replacement. But I'm pretty sure he's going to be dealing with customer PCs, not servers.

You're obviously too stupid to understand the concepts of unjust laws and civil disobedience, or you're just a B-grade troll.

In either case, good day sir.

Then you should apply it across the board not just drugs. Anything illegal. speeding tickets, jay walking, etc.

Where did I say speeding or jaywalking shouldn't be illegal? Actually I think they should give out a lot more tickets to jaywalkers and idiots on bikes who ride through stop signs and red lights and shit.

That's not a law. But I can see why businesses wouldn't want druggies in their employ - more likely to steal from them to buy their drugs to feed their addiction, etc. Maybe they aren't high on most days, but the one day they are and get someone killed or something, then what? It's just mitigating risk.

I know its not a law but its the way it should be. To mitigate risk they should eliminate any criminal element entirely. 0 tolerance across the board for anything illegal.

You're an idiot.

he's just applying your logic, testing for illegal activities because they're illegal

I, for one, would start testing people's computers for signs of illegal mp3's.

If they can't respect copyrights and intellectual property, how can I expect them to respect my own personal property?

See how that goes?

This is what you get for being such a fucking idiot. In this economy there's a lot of people that are looking for a job, most of them have the sense to lay off the drugs. I hope you fail your drug test and someone that has the sense to stay clean gets your job.

FWIW - I disagree with almost all drug laws, but it is what it is.

So, we're blaming marijuana on people who choose to drive intoxicated in some form? Alcohol is legal, and yet I could pull up thousands of articles on drunk drivers injuring or killing others or themselves.

Research shows it's safer to drive stoned than drunk:

http://norml.org/index.cfm?Group_ID=5450

Yes, I know it's a website siding with marijuana legalization, but the resources they used are still legitimate. Keep in mind I did not say it was "safe" to drive stoned, but safer than being drunk.

Why should the government be able to tell people what they can and can't do so long as they aren't hurting others? If someone wants to smoke weed, even all the time, they should be allowed to. If they get on the road stoned, they're putting themselves and others in danger. THAT should be illegal, like alcohol. If they neglect their children because of it, there'd be legal consequences from it. You get the idea. But smoking it when you're not hurting someone? Then it should be no more illegal than alcohol or tobacco, the latter being even worse for you physically than marijuana. That is unjust.

Use of a controlled substance isn't just some minor illegal thing like jaywalking or speeding - that is where his logic fails, but he refuses to see that.

At this point the only option you really have is probably to dilute your urine and take some B complex to color the pee, or, to sneak in someone's clean urine sample.

Otherwise, I would think that it is safe to say you are boned.

Also, creatine to get the specific gravity up closer to normal non-diluted urine.

that's not what you said though

"Who cares that he likes to puff on his own time, as long as he can do his job?"

your reply

"I dunno, maybe they test for it because it's FUCKING ILLEGAL you moron!"

Now replace "puff on own time" with anything illegal

I agree with you that there's a big difference between using drugs and jaywalking or speeding. The former only hurts the drug user while the latter endangers other people.
