"Goth, when it started, was a subculture," he said. "Now I view it more as a media term."
Now I know quite a few people who were into that scene(and have since grown up
) but now it seems everyone is doing it. Doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose? I mean the music I can understand...well...somewhat. I love a good classic gothic music on occasion...oh wait...goth isn't about classical...ooops
Anyway - even some of the heavy dark "gothicish" (death)metal I enjoy at times(nver got into punk), but I guess I'm at a loss to understand this new era of kid goths. Also - I guess I missed the whole industrial/trance/whatever shift too - so maybe that's part of why I don't understand why goth has grown.
Is it about the music or is it about the appearance of being "different"(although you aren't that different these days)?
<-- trying to understand where the shift took place...
