it's very laid back. People here wear jeans. Lots do not even tuck their shirt in. Other peopel wear hats, but my group doesn't like it even though someone else in my group wears a hat.

wearing a hat is not stupid, hat-wearers aren't stupid. People who wear hats in professional environments are stupid.

Yes, it is all an ancient style thing, probably dating to the year that suits and ties where considered professional looking. However, that is the way it is.

If I where a business owner, I could care less if someone wore a hat, but you can bet that I would chew out a sales rep. or consultant that wore a hat while meeting a client in a professional environment. It just screams "Dude, I just got out of college and love this sick hat yo!"

nope, it's not. Other depts have no problem with it, but mine does.

i have to wear collared shirts, pants and work shoes (cant wear my engineer boots, even tho they are steel toe) and other depts of my workplace dont have to. theres other people here that can wear t shirts and tennis shoes and dont get looked at twice.

that said, i dont wear a hat when i visit customers at all, unless we are working outside and it is very sunny and hot or raining.

im kind of confused why they would care if youre wearing a hat tho. a lot of the engineers i work with wear hats regularly. they even give me hats from their companies on occasion.

They just do imo. Same with jerseys. I love the mets but I'm not about to wear them in public. If you're a 15 year old kid then go for it, not so much for a 40 year old.

This. The FSM commands you to wear hats, and if they don't like it here's you lawyer's card.
