At a Boy Scouts overnight campout. My son is a Cub Scout.

That's just how we roll in California.

Sounds more like an Al-Qaeda terrorists training camp to me. I always knew you're un-american, but this is crossing the line. Reported to the FBI.

It's pretty neat, isn't it? I've had the pleasure of seeing two flags retired in my life, both when I was in Boy Scouts. Most people get to see one, if any.

While I've never gotten to see one, I've seen a hell of a lot of flags that should be retired. :(
My own university has a couple in need even.

Yeah, it was pretty cool. Kind of caught me off guard though. I didn't really know how the retired old/worn flags, burning it was the last thing I thought they were going to do with it.

They played Taps and saluted while the flag was burned. It was kind of emotional actually.

I've taken part in many flag-burning ceremonies to respectfully retire a worn out flag.
The ones that piss me off the most are the redneck morons with a flagpole and flag in the back of their truck. "Yee-Haw! Lookit me! I ar a PATRIOT!" but they're too fucking stupid to realize that driving around, especially at freeway speeds tears a flag to shreds...a MOST disrespectful way to fly a flag.

If you want to disrespect the US flag, burn the dammed thing in protest of something, don't do it out of sheer "ignance."

California? Check. Flag-burning? Check.
OMGLIBURLTERRISTSALQAEDAHOMOSEXUALCOMMUNISTECOKOOKWANKERS! Call the FBI!

:p

Anyway, glad the flag got a proper retirement. Many have no idea what the protocol is and just end up throwing them out without any respect. to those who know better.

Be careful of the fumes. I think the dyes the Chinese use to color the flags are highly toxic.
