The next day I got a call from the head of casino security who was very good. He once again reiterated there are 0 cameras in the hotel for "our customers privacy" to which I replied then spend millions in security on cameras for their protection but none for their guests." and he apologized but said nothing more on the matter.

You got lied to or the story is bullshit. The hotels/casinos in Atlantic City are absolutely loaded with cameras.

In most hotel rooms, the deadbolt can only be unlocked from the inside if i remember correctly.
