Now you're stuck behind them wasting your time because if they had signaled earlier, you easily could've gotten into the right lane. How many g'damn times does this happen? Those m'fuggers need to DIAF. Some people just have no idea of their surroundings.

Just watch their speed and actions. Even people who don't signal usually slow down slightly. They also tend to wander a bit back and forth in the lane since they are looking at their turn, not directly ahead. When you see this, just change lanes. Even if you're wrong, no harm in being in the right lane, is there?

Do the same when in the right: Think the guy is wandering or slowing down slightly? Switch to the left!

However, if you're not in a big rush, it's also reasonably fast to just stay in the right lane when in an area that has many such left hand turn possibilities. People turning left may stop, but people turning right won't.

QFTMFT

Vehicles have been built since the 1900's that way, amber is stupid, red is more atttention getting.

And another vote for using your turn signal. If you don't use it in front of me I won't let you in and you will get a nice finger. I wish more people would get ticketed for not using it.
How is it more attention getting? I would notice a different color first before the brake lights flashing. Why? Because I see people tapping their brakes ALLL the time. yes, I've seem them do it in a constant interval as if it were a signal. The other tail light is sometimes out of my view (A pillar in the way). It's far more clear IMO for the different color.

exactly....I know someone that was pulled over for no signal and got a dui

Although better than no signal at all, I hate when people give you the "1 blink" changing lanes signal. It's like "here's your f'n signal"

WHAT? You mean that lever on the left side of the steering wheel is there for more than just a convenient place to hang the key for my gas cap? Say it ain't so Bucky!

This has been one of my main gripes ever since moving to Kahleeforneeya. No one here (including usually the cops) seems to know what that lever is actually intended to be used for...especially on the freeways. Use your turn signals to signal intent to change lanes...everyone closes up the gap so you can't move over.

I will do this at intersections where right on red is prohibited. On more than one occasion I have been the first car at an intersection like that and have had cars honking and making a scene because I would not proceed with my turn while the light is red.

I am mindful of pedestrians as I turn on my signal and proceed when the light turns green.

God I hate that.

I also will leave enough space to stop if they don't turn into a parking lot so I don't blow into them (ie your horrible driver of a mom)

On another note, I hate turn signals that are red/flash the brake light on that side. Keep them amber god damnit.

EDIT: Added comment about mom

Flex those internet muscles a bit more, tough guy.

The best part is that you also didn't even talk about what I said. What's this talk of a parking lot? I'm talking about a person signaling to turn onto the road that you're on and you trying to turn right onto the road that they're currently coming on. You didn't even touch my comment about how turn signals have been essentially made useless in this day, because not everyone will use them anyway. Yet, this doesn't mean I don't use my turn signal just because I know there are quite a few that won't use theirs. I think the only spot where I don't use mine that some might is when turning into a parking spot.

Yet somehow from my post you construe that I am "just another tard who can't drive." Get off your fucking high horse.

Still completely your mom's fault. It is her duty as a person yielding to traffic to make sure that person is turning.

I'm not saying it isn't her fault as it's failure to yield to oncoming traffic. The point is to show that in this case, if the signal were being used properly, there would've been no issue. But now, if we all just waited to see if someone actually turned to pull out (in that same situation), what would be the point of using the signal anyway? There would be none (excluding lane changes :p), because we'd all wait to see if someone actually turns. The signal shows the intent of the driver and sometimes we like to rely on visual cues to define what people are doing.

It's also an interesting note that the guy who went straight should've had his license revoked by that point but his dad knew the DA or something like that (or so the cop told my mom).

Tim

All the hate for the guy who forgot to use his turn signal.
All the sympathy for the guy who got caught speeding in VA in the other thread.

What a bunch of sheep you people really are.

According to the OP's post, it would've been all worth it if he had received a ticket.

EDIT: For the record I do signal about 90% of the time. The rare times that I don't are: changing lanes when there's no one around me or when not signaling will not cause any confusion to other drivers such as in this situation (first car at a red light. Light turns green and I make the right. No pedestrians, no slowing down, no harm done).

when you blow the cop, it's only proper etique to let you continue on as if nothing happened.

I don't know if I would have used that card in such a minor ticket, but hey no harm done.

I hope the police will do this more often. So many accidents could have been avoided. Its also an excellent income for the police which I think they should tap into.

Well, consider yourself lucky. Oh, and signal 100% of the time. :|

I wish it were as simple as that. We have 2-lane roads here but they are pretty moderately filled most times - cars in both lanes going moderate speeds. When someone you're following suddenly hits the brakes with no warning, you've simply got nowhere to go. The only way to get out of that is if you were warned a good 10 seconds prior so you can space out further and sneak into the other lane.

If there are no cars in the other lane to begin with, trust me - I wouldn't be following that person to begin with because of exact situations like this where they don't warn people.

yup. you should consider yourself lucky you didnt have old warrants or glitches on your record for him to find. you should also consider yourself lucky he didnt give you a ticket for the hell of it, since he could have. i dont even have to move my hand to turn on my signal, just stretch out a finger and flick it. i do it without even thinking now, even in parking lots sometimes. makes me feel foolish sometimes, but im ok with that.

Your complaining about not getting a ticket?

Cops are always in the wrong on this board.

its 2 milimeters away dammit.

Tell that to the numerous cops that don't.

See? The cop should probably lose his badge for such disgusting behavior. The lose his pension and serve some prison time. Then get the chair.

The only time I don't use it is on the freeway when I need to get over into another lane. The jackass behind me will usually speed up to take the space I need if I signal first so I don't anymore.

I got pulled over and ticketed for not wearing my seat belt once at a DUI checkpoint. Now THAT is a dumb reason to get pulled over!

So you saw a police checkpoint and didn't have the presence of mind to buckle up? Are you saying it was stupid of the cops to ticket you or stupid of you to knowingly put yourself in a position to get ticketed?

I'm sorry to say but there is no right way for you to answer that question.
