Turn signals are practically worthless anymore. A great device, but they only help when you can almost guarantee that someone will use it. Do you always assume that they will also use it properly? I know my mom remarked about being in an accident once because a guy had his signal on to turn and then just went straight instead. I still use my signal, but if others aren't using it, I'm most certainly not going to attempt to guess their intent.

Still completely your mom's fault. It is her duty as a person yielding to traffic to make sure that person is turning.Originally posted by: Aikouka

I sometimes think that if people had to manually turn on brake lights, we would all be screwed.

I don't usually signal when changing lanes on the interstate unless i'm not 100% sure of what's around me. Usually when I change lanes I watch as someone approaches behind me and passes by me, then change over. I actually keep watch on all of my mirrors and my blind spot at all times though.
Anytime there is a significant amount of traffic i'll signal though.
I've noticed that alot of people who do use turn signals tend to use them in place of looking in their mirrors and in their blind spot whereas people who don't signal already know whether they are safe to change lanes.

Vehicles have been built since the 1900's that way, amber is stupid, red is more atttention getting.
And another vote for using your turn signal. If you don't use it in front of me I won't let you in and you will get a nice finger. I wish more people would get ticketed for not using it.
