The crt.5 is a great little truck and really tough. Here's a vid of me trying to hit 60 in the little thing. Most of the time I can only use 1/2 throttle as the F end comes up so easy. Too much and its backflip time. I cartwheeled so many times and never broke a thing. Actually barely broke anything on that truck.. maybe an arm turnbuckle, and a rear arm in the cold...but that's about it. OTOH I don't jump my shit off houses. Its expensive enough w/o trashing them. I've even had it on the 1/8th scale track a few times and it does well on the big jumps.

The esc was 80 (sidewinder) the motor is $100 (medusa 50mm motor now) and the batt was $40 (4s 2100 Zippy brand pack.) That and a $30 motor mount from RC-Monster.com was all it took to convert to electric.

Lipos can be dangerous if handled very stupidly, but the chem is changing a lot and more than anything you'll smoke the pack rather than a fire. Good escs have voltage cutoffs too, so not likely to run down batt if its set. Nitromethane can burn down your house too if you are dumb w/ it. Its not for kids, but its safe if you know what you are doing.

The .5s can go pretty cheap. They didn't quite catch on as racers. I know BCE had a ext chassis, but the .5s now come with one that is even longer for full sized servos. They can't go places big trucks can go, but they do well and are so fast and nimble they offer a bit diff experience than even the full trugs do. I love mine. Its the greatest 1/10 scale electric that was never made. 🙂 Have a rustler too, but 4wd and metal driveshafts and chassis rule.

OTOH, I remem seeing your Hyper ST vid back when I was thinking about getting one. That engine you have fookin' rips.

@ Raduque I'm a bit more of a spd demon, but that's a nice vid you got. The mudding was cool.

RC s good like that, all sorts of diff flavors for whatever you want.

Nice little .5!! So fast and quiet. Almost makes me want to try out brushless and LiPo!!
Those little wheels turn into pizza cutters at speed! Have you duct taped the inside to keep that down? It'll make it easier to control but I bet your top speed won't be as high. Final drive ratio with those things ballooned out will get a mph or 2. /shrug

Ya, the Picco .28 is outstanding. It's modded and has the drag mod on the button head for a little more top end. Coupled with that TSAIS pipe, it puts down some serious torque.
It's awesome for tight tracks when you have a short space to clear doubles and triples.
