Once you're finished being pissed off at the Revo for braking every other jump or tweaking the chassis...step up to 1/8th scale. Don't get me wrong, Traxxas is great for the RTR stuff, but I have put less money into the truggies that I ever did with Revo/Jato/Rustler.

Currently in the stable:
Xray XT8
Ho-Bao Hyper ST Pro
Revo x2
an OLLLDD Rustler
Jato

Here are a couple quick vids of the Hyper and one of the Revos.

Hyper ST

Revo with a Sirio .23

They can normally out run a real car 0-50 easily. Off the top of my head my revo has 2.5 hp at probably 7 pounds.

That's 2.8 pounds per HP at 32000 rpm. A 3500 pound car with 1250 hp.

Sorry dude...that 2.5 wished it could pull that HP. It can do that RPM and more easily however.

It's a Picco 26. I've got plenty of motors/exhausts laying around and that things is a monster.

Thought you were talking the TRX 2.5 engine.
Ya, the picco .26 is a decent engine for the cash. I have a .26 maxx sitting in my other Revo and it's been a trooper. I only wish it had a big block exhaust port rather than the small block style.

Put an 053 (sportwerks comes to mind) on that Picco and it will really wake up.

Oh man I use to go to the drag races at Pomona 2 times a year, one time I stood right next to the pipes on a top fuel funny car as they fired it up. My friends couldn't stop laughing and I couldn't stop coughing and wiping tears, it was something I will never forget, maybe its why I have lost my mind now at age 44. :frown:

Ahh come on WaTaGump...

You KNOW you want to get back into it.
How about more persuasion???

Brand spanking new and fresh build.

Xray Xt8. She sees all of the action these days.

It's in my revo, that means it's the same motor - Picco MAXX. 😉 Sick motor.

The Losi LST2 I got for the girl, that thing aint no joke either. I have no idea how many motors and exhausts I have laying around in addition to a HUGE tackle box full of parts. I didn't run them at all last year and now just thinking about it makes me want to get them ready.

ok - now this is just sick. I recognized every bottle of fluid and tool

Wanna race?

Muahaha on a track you wouldn't stand a chance. The revo just doesn't compete with truggies on the track. Believe me...I tried. Several times!! The road however (depending on gearing mind you) the Revo will have the better top end. 2nd gear FTW!
Truggies are single speed only.
That Hyper is an absolute beast. Tough as nails. It some of the thickest shock towers around.
The Xray has more adjustments to make to it than I know what to do with. It likes to be driven hard IF you have it dialed in. If it isn't, it will aggravate you to no end.

On the Picco .26, I know they are one in the same. Seriously, put an 053 pipe and header on that thing. Ditch the rear exhaust and put a side pipe setup on it.
You'll have to use a big block AND small block header gasket to have it work correctly since all of the headers to use for a side mount are for 1/8th scale.
You'll really like the Picco .26maxx after that. Then....go mod that sucker. Maybe a stage II mod from ABmods. 😀

According to:

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/c...ti0001p?&I=LXKHE9&P=ML

It's 4.2cc and 2.5HP

Those cars weigh ~7lbs

According to:

http://www.webbikeworld.com/du...torcycles/ducati-1098/

A Ducati 1098:

1099cc and 160HP

Weighs 381 (that's probably low, I'd guess 420lbs with fluids)

lulz,

Already done RE: the picco. Don't make me get into the truggies. I already have enough money into it to go there. MAKE IT STOP! MAKE IT STOP!

And i don't particularly care about the track - this shit is pure fun in a bottle.

Depends, if you buy RTR, it can be quite cheap (still relative). I suggest RTR and a VERY open parking lot first before you start getting into circuits and tracks.

After you've mastered the art of controlling your car, then start taking it to a local track and drive around slowly. This is when you want to check out the pros that are running at the track and seek their advice. After a few visits, you'll know who are the pros.

You can get a few RTR kits that are quite good in qualities and are not terribly expensive. After you've thoroughly destroyed that car, then start thinking about building your own. I've always been a fan of Serpent.

Or, you can ignore all that crap I just wrote and buy yourself a kit, engine, servos, transmitter and receiver, starter, etc... and put one together. Way to jump in feet first, and it'll help you out a lot when your car breaks (because you already know how to put them together, fixing them is not at all difficult). It's not if, but when your car will explode in pieces and you best know how to rebuild it.

I was into RC cars when I was younger. Had an RC10 and an RC10T, both pretty done up. Probably had somewhere around a grand into them. It just gets old going back and forth in the dirt. Even doing laps around something is pretty boring. It's especially silly when I think that with a grand, I should have picked up a beater Civic and started racing real cars earlier than when I actually did. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind picking up some ready to go unit for 100-200 bucks. They are a decently fun toy and I hear that they have improved quite a bit since I was into them, but I would never put any real money into them again, nor would I revisit it as a hobby. I have much more fun playing with the real thing than I ever did with RC stuff. 🙂

Uggg. Here we go....

For these engines, there is no standard dyno. Each manufacturer slaps on their own Hp rating. Tower is just regurgitating what OFNA says that Picco will output.
Give that same engine to 3 other people to get a power rating and you have 3 vastly different results.
The Picco .26 MAXX might pull 2.5 hp if it is modded, and that would have to be one VERY insane mod that wouldn't do you any good other than dragging it.

For example: here's a Ninja .21 which by all accounts (power, torque, RPm, Fuel csunsumption) is a superior engine. After it's modded it's only making 1.72 HP. Mind you this is done on a dyno table, with a matched header and pipe.
This engine will have WAY bigger balls than a Picco .26 will have and it's only a .21 engine.
Ports have a big say in low/mid/ and top end power as well as the port timing.
Ninja JX .21

I'm not trying to bust your balls, I'm just telling you like it is.

DO IT!!!! You'll kick yourself for not doing it earlier. I swear I have spent less on the 2 Truggies than I have with just one of the Revos.
They are so much tougher. I still like the Revos to bash around tho. The Hyper has turned into a basher though.

Get a decent Truggy (losi 8, Hyper, Raven ST or what ever flavor you like) get a good mill, and start off like that. It's a night and day difference in handling, jumping and crash worthiness.
The Revo feels so sloppy to drive after goofing off with the Xray or Hyper.

Just do it.... you know you want to.

heh, I forgot to mention my neighbor also has an R1 bike, supped up and he is a damn good rider. Brings the definition of fast to a whole nutter level.

We "raced" a few times - his bike vs. my wittle RC car. No contest.

vvvr00m, vr00m, vr00mmmmmmmm, (start) vr0m. Done.
