Got my MX700

I got my MX700 last night and it is simply amazing. It is perfect, it is much more comfortable than I thought it was going to be, and the tracking is smoother than a baby's ass, and it is very fast and accurate. Without any doubt, this is worth the extra $30, also I am assuming that the MX500 is the same just corded, so either one will do. And the batteries have been going non stop for 13 hours now of pretty much continuous use. So it has greatly exceeded my expectations.

yeah i agree i just got mine today
so far so good, no complaints at all except the extra weight but i can deal with it
by the by, does anyone actually keep it (the base station) 8 inches away from other electronic devices like the picture in the manual shows?

Is a wireless mouse really worth the hassel of changing the batteries so much?

MX700 comes with a nice looking charger base that is also the RF receiver

2 biggest knocks on wireless opticals have been addressed with this mouse:

1) eats, drinks and sleeps batteries: included charger and batteries handles all but the 24-hour Lan-A-Thon with ease. Put it on the charger while you are doing the bare necessity of using the bathroom or eating and you won't even notice (once fully charged, only takes about 15 mins to charge again).

2) poor response, skipping, low resolution: MX engine is the best optical engine available, at 800dpi resolution and 124hz RF signals to the receiver (max for USB), it rivals any wired mouse with or w/out balls

Yes, the precious is a little bit heavier than most mice, but I like the larger and heavier size, for me it is perfect. The batteries charge quickly and can be used all day. It is also buttery smooth and fast. I really like how the black area is not just plastic, but almost a rubber feel so that it "sticks" to your hands during intense gaming. Between the MX700, cordless Elite, and BF1942, I am set.

Well off i go to watch LOTR for the 2nd time, in my opinion it is much better than the first and I cant wait for the third!

my mouse just keep turning, jumping to another point and when i moving horizontally it moves vertically...

faye, I think your mouse sounds like a dud, I would exchange it. It only takes about an hour to charge. I dont charge it at all during the day and only charge it at night. I havent needed to recharge it for the past 2 days and I am waiting until the power level starts to go down before recharging.

When I say that the mouse is smoother and more precise, I mean that it is simply smoother, you have to try it for yourself, I couldnt understand what people meant by it until I upgraded from the cordless mouse with the cordless Elite keyboard to the MX700. It just feels more solid and just works even better than advertised.

right now using Elite keyboard, refunded the cordless one(going to)
one thing i don't like the cordless one is u don't have the caps lock, num lock, scroll lock light.

i like mine corded one.

can MX500 (mx engine) use on any surfaces?

Yes, except for mirrors and reflective surfaces. Also, you should use a uniform light-colored mouse pad as darker colors force the LED to work overtime.

so u mean use a as dark surface as possible?

i find that the binder is not hard and heavy enough... now i am using my math book.( it is marine blue)

Dark surfaces must have more light shined on them in order to recognized the same, it is the same as if you are photographing in the dark, you need more light in order to detect anything. So it uses more power and can drain the battery quicker on cordless mice. I have a dark cherry wood desk and I do not use a mouse pad. The lifespan of the MX700 batteries is simply better than I was expecting.

I have the MX700 as well. It's GREAT. (ditto everything said above).

Not sure how long the charge lasts, and I keep forgetting to put mine in the charger. I've gone 3 days without a charge before the red light starts blinking. I may use my mouse more, and perhaps less than you, so your mileage may vary. Those in the market need to understand that the batteries are rechargeable, and logitech claims they should last a year or so before needing a replacement.

I was a bit skeptical about getting a cordless mouse, but once you lose the tail, you won't want to go back. I wouldn't trade this mouse for another of any make or model. And yes......It works in Linux.

Toxic, do you use your MX700 on a light colored surface? I use mine on a dark colored surface and find that batteries last for a good 2 days of fairly intense use.

I heard the battries that came with it werent that high of quality. Have the scroll wheel and side button issuses been fixed? What if you used the same mouse with other wireless mice, would the transmitter conflict?

I would say the batteries are great as they last a good 2 days with normal use. 15 minutes of charging will give you a good few hours of use.

Yeah, I use mine on a light oak surface - no mouse pad. I don't really think the color matters. Personally, I think it's the texture of the surface that matters the most. (I could be wrong)

To touch on other subjects....

I haven't had any scroll wheel or side button issues. Mine works fine. I understand what people are saying, but I haven't seen any of those issues.

I have heard of the problems with the buttons which made me a little apprehensive about laying down this kind of money for The Precious, but the new drivers seem to work perfectly. So far I have not found any problems with the software, I am definetly glad to see that Logitech got the bugs worked out.

wireless optical mouse man is up to 800dpi

so are there any different in resolution?

Both are 800dpi but the MX sensor in the MX500 is superior,it scans a lot faster so you won`t get any skipping in gaming even if you move your MX500 at high speeds plus it has more buttons as well,it also has a larger sensor so the "scanning window" is bigger, the only decent cordless mouse is the MX700 for gaming.


Btw if you don`t have any USB ports spare you can always run it in PS/2 mode(it comes with USB to PS/2 adaptor).

just got an email from logitech technician saying that any optical mouse should have a light colour surface to work the best.

an A4 paper is the best.
