I think this is the only country where you can take martial arts and not be subjected to pain. I know in Korea, tae kwon do was brutal and that's not even a real martial skill...it's an artform!

Hell, dancing is painful in the orient.

If the instructor had even an inkling of intent to hurt him, I'd think he'd be hurt. ;)

The way he made sport of me, I doubt he'd have had much trouble hurting me REALLY bad let alone killing me. He's good, very good. I'm just rusty. :(

Of course you pit a 350lb muscle bound martial arts nut against a 5 foot talk korean master who probubly doesn't weigh 120lbs dripping wet and see who wins. Let's just say he has an amazing ability to move fast. Where as I hit hard, he hits fast. Speed beats power any day.

I didn't say I hadn't practiced. I have kept up my daily practice and kata's, just haven't been under the tutoring of any instructors in the last 10-12 years. I still practice. It's part of my morning warmups and excercise.

Yeah, I weighed in today and I'm at 350lbs. Very bulky, but I got some fat showing too. Gotta work on getting rid of that. Guess it's time to crank up the morning workout into turbo mode. Either that or I need to lay off all that pizza at work!! :Q:D

heh, must be refreshing...I can imagine being all pumped after beating the students, and then going home and crying after an old guy kicked your ass.

Not that he wouldn't have done the same to me. But it wasn't me, now was it. :)

congrats on getting back into the scene.

Well if this makes you feel any better, after class yesterday, my sifu had the private lesson he promised . . .. Damn that man is fast. But to say that speed beats power is wrong, IMO - technique beats speed and power- from the technique you get the speed from the proper set-up/recovery and the power from the proper architecture. ;)
