Forgot to mention a couple of things:
Jeep means:

Just
Empty
Every
Pocket

or

Just
Expect
Every
Problem.

And Jeeps aren't leaking oils....they're marking their territory.

Yeah. That problem with the fuel gauge got fixed today..took me 6-7 hours in all. Holy hell that is a lot dropping that tank and getting probably 20 year old bolts undone.

Yeah man, if that fuel filter is tucked up next to the gas tank, I hope you took the opportunity to change that too.

Shit, if I had to drop the fuel tank on my car, I'd change the sender, the pump, the pickup, and the hard lines coming out just to never have to do it again.

All we did was replace the sending unit and the rubber hoses. Two hoses to copper/steel pipes under the frame, then two to a yellowish cylinderish device in/behind the wheel well. I went to Advance, they gave me all the hoses for $17 with clamps and everything. I go to Auto Zone, ask for 2x1/4" 2ft hoses, he asks fuel and I say yes, and it costs me $17 for both- what the hell? I had no idea there were two different kids, and all that was different was a blue lining which wasn't on the other ones taken off anyways.

Damn, you should have done a lot more for 6-7 hours of labor vested in it. Have you posted on the CJ7 forums first? Just going to AutoZone or /any big box for advice is heading for return trips.

Yes, I lurk the Jeep forums. The tank was almost rusted on, and an hour and a half of that was driving/waiting for things. This isn't your run of the mill new car tank, I'm pretty sure this thing hadn't been touched since it was installed in 84. The clamps on it were crap and it is hard to get under without jacking it up, which we didn't do. I buy things from stores, I don't take advice- that is what the internet is for.

Not surprised the fuel tank put up a fight. In a perfect world, all the bolts would come right off with no problem. Not the case with a CJ.

The point was with that much time in there, you should have looked at the lines, filter and pump.

I did look at the lines. The pump is in the engine. The filter is also in the engine. I've looked at all of them. They are all fine.

The point is you don't seem to know much about the Jeep (less than I do apparently).

I got the tach and front lights working today too...apparently all it needed was to be plugged into the fuse box. She is running fine for the moment.

Looked at doing an in-tank pump and replacing the rest.

I don't know what you plans are...did you buy a CJ7 to go off-road and stuff or just as a cheap cruiser?

What?

I was given the Jeep to drive as a DD and work on it as it needs/as I see fit.
